Trouble with my new ride.

Hello I'm new to this forum, and I have a question I hope someone can answer. I just bought a '95 s14 with a rb25det in it. Its an ugly ride but it has 0 rust on the body or under carriage and it burns a little oil. The main issue that im having with it and frankly it scares the piss out of me and makes me not want to drive it is a violent knocking that comes from the back of the car when I shift to quickly from a high rpm or I release the accelerator to quickly out of a low rpm. Does anyone have any experience with such a noise? At first I thought it was the suspension but the noise only occurs during bad shifts or fast shifts or low rpm shifts but not all shifts, just the iffy type shifts. Please help.
