Maaco Paint job?
After my paint color turned out to be the wrong color, i don't want to redo it so i think im going to have maaco do it. Anyone use them before around the NJ/NY area? How much they cost for a cheap paint job in glossy black or grey?
Prices for.. Price including sanding/redo body work. price including only paint. thank you |

i would really go check out their shop and see their work before going there. i've been through four maaco's and theres only one in my area that does good quality jobs for a good price. the other ones were garbage. yeah you gotta ask them for a pricing, some overcharge like crazy.

You should go down to maaco and have them look at the car and maybe work out a deal with them. It's best to do all the prep work yourself THEN have maaco do the paint as it usually comes out better when done this way. They are bad at prep work so the paint doesn't stick to we'll.
Not sure if you've got a air compressor but there is a really good write up in the FAQ section on DIY paint job for under $300. Good luck. |

maco is cheap for a reason. they do almost no prep and the clear beaks down/paint peels off in about a year or two. I worked for a rental company that used them exclusively. most of the time they only used 2 scotchbrite pads to scuff the whole vehicle for prep.
On the bright side i think it only cost about 300 for the whole paintjob. needless to say there was over spray everywhere and they didn't remove anything. |

I sanded my car down and removed bumpers/lights/moldings. Every maaco is different so I would suggest going to the one your interested in, and ask if you can see a car that was just painted.

Apparently there's a Maaco in NoVA where people know painters and they're rumored to do a good job, might take my car there.
They vary enormously.

My car was painted at maaco and I didnt really know about it before buying the car... Now that ive had a few "fender benders," its really evident. On both of my bumpers the paint is flaking off, and the paint underneath is still polished and shiny. NO prep work done at all.
My advice is to do your own prep work. Even if you pay maaco to do it, theyre going to half ass it. Do your own prep, and have them spray and clear it. |

You need to prep it yourself if you go to maaco otherwise they dont care. What he said is true if it makes it to a year. Just remember you want cheap you get a cheap look. |

if u want a decent cheap paint job. maaco is the place. pretty cheap on prices and they do have good quality paint. as for the preps, every maaco has different preps, some good that know what theyre doing and some bad that just dont give a damn and just want the car out of the way. i used to be a sander at maaco in palmdale before they closed down. or u can go to 1 day paint which is about the same except they carry cheaper paint. i also use to work there til the painter was running his mouth and had to take flight on him. got fired, but at least beat his ass. anyways, any other shop does the same work but just more expensive. i also do bodywork and paint for cheap. hit me up if u need a paint job. peace. im in palmdale

oceanside MAACO, 300 dollars later.
my camera phone really sucks, but the paint is is a grey/green color with silver pearl. it looks like straight grey in the pics, but in person it looks awesome... i couldnt find anything wrong with it, and this was before they wetsand/buffed so im pretty damn happy with maaco of oceanside right now.. and most the prep work was done by me except they fixed on fender that i didnt have enough supplys to fix.. (side skirts are not on in this pic )
