another exhaust question... blah

okay, i know everyone who opens this thread is gona say OMG this is like the millionth and one exhaust question thread made. and/or use the ******* search feature. well, okay, ive tried searching and searching and ill list what ive found after i post this question.

oh yeah, this is for a 89 240sx with a 95 ka24de

Question:
What size of test pipe/resonator should i use to connect a OBX header (ID: 2.25") to an HKS hi power (ID:3")? Should i use a 2.5" pipe or 3"? i just dont really know if the flanges are the same and will bolt up correctly.

Ive found people saying they used 2.25" to 2.5" using the smaller gasket and/or people using 2.5" to 3", but ive never found if the flanges are all the same or what not. im assuming the 2.5" pipe would work, but would a 2.25" to a 3" work? i guess all im asking is if the flanges are all the same, that would probably answer all my questions. i feel really dumb asking this... just dont want to order the wrong part.
