s14 Rear seat delete/rebuild

So I think this is my first post but ive been browsing these forums for awhile. I recently picked up a 95' zenki. After doing the usual maintenance yada yada, I installed a new head unit and was getting ready to throw my 2-12" kickers with box in the trunk... little did i know the fit wasnt gonna be there.

My gears got turning and I looked at the rear seat... mine is leather and has some dry rot, so i figured instead of looking for a new seat... lets fab something up where I can throw the 12 inch subs where the seats used to be... which leads me to....

The seat delete. Pretty self explanatory..

My though was, lay some carpet down where the seat cushins used to be.. cut out a piece of wood (going to lowes tomorrow) and install some hinges *maybe* and put the wood where the back of the seats would be. cut holes out for the subwoofers and carpet it. then with the seat back latches (i guess thats what they are) im gonna put two slots where they can come through, and get some matching locks and lock that thing into place... i think the locks were a cool idea... call me weird..

anyway heres the carpet picture.. it was dark and i was getting tired so i basically threw it in and figured if it needed work, ill work on it tomorrow. Im not trying to be perfect but just make it not a sight for sore eyes like those rear seats were.

I used some cheap o' replacement carpet from walmart that was like 9$
some 3m glue spray
I purchased a bed foam pad to put in the seats to make it less bumpy but as you can tell... my carpet laying skills arent the best so it needs a little smoothing out anyway. and that was also 9$

If i can get the wood and my carpenter friend to free up his schedule tomorrow, we will see how it comes along with more pictures tomorrow! I also need to wire in that amp...
