S14 driver door stuck closed
Hey everybody.
I've been reading other post and can't find an acceptable resolution. Recently picked up a 95 240sx and everything was working fine, except for the windows of course. Out of the blue I went to get in it and the driver door will no longer open. The key was and still is turning the lock, manual locks, and the inside lock was moving fine. But pulling the inside and outside handles do nothing. After using a lock out kit on it for about an hour or two I noticed the outside handle is not attached to the latching mechanism. Now after messing with it in pretty stumped as to what can be done. I've tried pushing down on the piece the outaide handle should be attached to. Window does not roll down and since the door is shut I can't seem to pull the panel off. Any ideas would be helpful. I would really rather not cut the door or the panel if possible. Thanks |

Only way to open the door is to remove the panel man... most likely gunna have to break it off and stick your hand in there and pull the lever down to open the door... . First tho, try to remove the black cover where the door handle is inside the car, see if the hard metal lever is attached , if it is then its most likely disconnected inside the door so there goes the panel

Time to get the slim jim out and practice your breaking in skills. There are a bunch of rods in the door that connect the lock, internal handle, and external handle to the latching mechanism. Getting access to the latching mechanism is what will save your day; how you get there is all up to you(Pull back the door panel as far as you can, cut a hole in the door panel where the latch is)

fortunately i do have a complete lock out kit available to use right now that has 2 different slim jims.
i managed to get to the part that would unlatch the door but it doesnt want to budge. unfortunately i cannot see where the lock bar from the outside lock reaches the mechanism so i cant really do much with it but the bar moves and seems attached, doesnt wiggle around a bunch when moved by the slim jim. |

Going through the same issue n I hope this will help. As I just recently bought this car it seems that the last owner had been going through the same shit with the passenger and driver side. As I did my research through this forum and others come to find out it was the actuator (white thingy conected to the mechanism) got stuck. Pulled out the driver side seat, about 3 bolts on the bottom panel and I think 1 on the side. Of course plugs and switches should be pulled out. Then 2 10mm bolts where handle is at. Here comes the fun part trying to pull the door panel without breaking any tabs etcs etcs( I've already broke a few tabs) still manage to get the panel out. Follow the 2 mechanism to the actuator and make sure nothing is stuck. And if it is use flat head driver or anything to pop it back out. Problem solved for me. May I add it took me a week to do this because my youngest just so happened to have the chicken pocks and so hard to dedicate my time in between.

Funny you say that because earlier this week I just got frustrated and ended up taking a pet bar to the bottom of the door. It didn't have the screws in and I had already ripped the rest of the parts off before trying to get my windows to work. Ended up getting the panel to pop up and the actuator was stuck in between lock and unlock. Ended up breaking the stupid plastic clips on the latching mechanism to the outside door handle while attempting to unlock it from the outside with a slim jim so I temporarily have a hanger for a door handle.
