Does anybody know what kind of struts are put on an S14 from the factory?  I read somewhere a few months ago about them possibly being McPherson's.  How can I check to see without taking it to someone to look at?

The reason I'm asking--my extended warranty covers McPherson struts and I was wondering if my car was covered (providing the factory struts are still on the car--with 65000 miles on it, ya never know tho!).

Thanks in advance!

McPherson is the design of strut you have. That's the guys name that made coil/shock combos. His name is Mcpherson, he designed a new technology in suspension dampening.:)
Brand name wise NISSAN either uses BOGE' or a TOKICO painted in a black casing. So I'm told.

And yes I am still planning for an S14. Someone has to buy my SWEEEEEET COBRA

Jason, are BOGE' or TOKICO struts good brands? &nbsp;I have been told to stay away from Monroe and Gabriel struts for my 240. &nbsp;I know Gabriel struts are total sh!t, but I always thought Monroe was a good name (well, we put Monroe shocks on all of our cars about 10 years or so ago, so times may have changed).

Thanks for your help and I wish you luck on finding a buyer for your Cobra. &nbsp;Whoever buys it will be one lucky person.:)

Loren, Tokicos are a nice replacement for any car, they do a nice job of performance dampenig. They are not harsh and will be slightly noticable in stiffness.
If you want some adjustability, then get the TOKICO Illuminas.
If you love your S14a, then get Yellow KONIs. They are adjustable by varying tuneabiliy of one know. The KONIs are Bound and rebound valved for adjustability. There is no other brand that even compares to KONIs.
Set at &quot;0&quot; or &quot;soft&quot; they ride like stock. When the Auto cross bug hits you; and it will: the KONIs need only a turn in the clockwise direction for an exilerating ride around the track. No need for performance springs with KONIs, let the strut do all the work, unless you want a lower car. Easy adjustment at in the trunk and under your hood. Takes 2 minutes to tune.

At least get TOKICOs, for a replacement. Stock struts are soft to me. However if your in the mood for some serious comfortable stuts that can &quot;turn&quot; autocross ready in 2 minutes, than KONI is for you.

MY VOTE: KONI, I have them on my COBRA. MAkes the car ride better than stock.

Thanks Jason! &nbsp;I just hope that my extended warranty will pay for a product that is &quot;better than stock.&quot; &nbsp;I just don't have the money to shell out on aftermarket suspension parts right now. &nbsp;I'm still trying to save up for an intake. &nbsp;I'm also going to have to get an exhaust in the next few months, too (mine's rattling a bit and the muffler's looking a bit worn! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>:().

After having my car for 2 months, I'm finally getting my tranny mount fixed (the nice little &quot;clunk&quot; when I shift into second was getting old the first week I had the car!!!), but I'm slowly (but surely) getting my baby cleaned up!

BTW Jason, you should be up here in Tulsa right now with your Cobra. &nbsp; There is a HUGE f*^king Mustang convention right across the street from my apt this weekend. &nbsp; There has got to be 5 of every year Mustang in the Marriott parking lot here, including quite a few Cobras like yours. &nbsp;I saw 15 Shelby Cobras lined up yesterday! &nbsp;Lots of kick-ass cars I'd give an arm AND a leg for! &nbsp;I've been sitting on my balcony, smoking cigarettes, and just admiring the cars!

Well, sorry I've gotten away from the topic a bit!

Get your warranty specialist to work with you...
Tell them you'll pay the difference if yo upick the brand of strut used. I've seen it done.
