Hope that guy is going to reimburse you for the wrong ECU, and then buy you the correct ECU for selling yours.

Ok, got a computer in. Observed the injector rail, now all 4 are spraying! Reassembly.
Threw code 13 again, so I replaced the 2 prong temp sensor, cleared codes. STILL hard start, flooding! In order to get it to run, I clean the carbon from the plugs, remove the fuel pump fuse and run the starter a few times, then put the fuse back in when the car starts. But then after running for a little while the exhaust goes black again and it's ready to die and the plugs are fouled. Run the codes again and got 12 for maf and 34 for knock sensor. Argh! I did manage to get the timing set to 20 while it was running. I am currently running with an open down pipe (guy at the wreckers yanked the cat as his original plan was to scrap the car, I should have let him). does that matter in this situation? I can fab up a quick test pipe if it will help. Right now I have just been concentrating on getting the darn thing to run without pooping the bed. |

Ok. got around to testing again today. got a good fuel pressure regulator up here too.
The knock code has cleared, hasn't re-appeared. I'm currently still getting the code 12 and flooding though. I checked the maf, good ground with no resistance on the ground, good 12 volts on the + wire, ~signal wire isn't sending a signal~. Signal wire has no resistance from maf end to computer end. SO gonna switch in a maf Summary of bad components found so far: spark plugs Temp Sensor spark plug wires Distributor cap 2 injectors computer top timing chain guide EGR vac unit elbow Breather hose FPR Fuel pump Maf Resurrecting an old s13 is hard. The s13 plague is Nissan's EFI system. The computer, maf, injectors, fuel pump, temp sensor and fpr all failed in my car. Other people that also have this same flood/ hard start issue with their 240 find the issue is in the tps signal, weak spark (ignitor/coil), or EGR, intake/exhaust manifold and or Pair system leaks. A lot of people find leaky injectors too. Mine weren't leaking, they just failed. Last edited by v30magna; 10-16-2014 at 09:47 AM.. |

Well my old maf was bad, got another one on and got the car to run for longer than it ever has in my ownership. Cut it off to see if I could get it to start back, nope. Back to the multimeter...

Ok. Got good signal out of this maf (1.2 at idle). No signal from the old one. So my maf problem is fixed for now.
Got the car running and restarting from cold and warm, but Can't get it to restart once it is hot, but I am starting it with another car and jumper cables, and it rotates too slow once hot. I'm gonna go buy a good battery and try it from there. Computer isn't getting any codes. I was able to drive it around the yard and do some Burt Reynolds dirt drifting. Very optimistic right now. Once I can get it to start consistently with the new battery, it will be on to the fun stuff. 5 speed swap, vlsd, chassis bracing, suspension, paint. |

Just to update, starting and running fine now with a good battery. Had to replace one of the old injector o-rings too.
Now I'm looking at a vh45 swap, Helical diff, some suspension/bracing. thinking about what to do with the hood once I get the vh45. Manifold doesn't seem to clear on other peoples swaps, so they just chop a square and leave it. |
