How can you tell if a coilover has blown?

I just swapped my coilovers (Parts Shop Max) from my wrecked car over to my new car. I havent driven on them for a while now since November so I dont exactly remember how the ride is supposed to feel. I know for sure the rears are ok. But on the front even on the softest setting it almost feels like when I hit cracks in the road they pop and you feel it throughout the car. I adjusted them to full stiff to see if there was a difference and honestly it feels the same. One of them actually got stuck and now I cant adjust it down to a softer setting.

Whats a good way to figure out if they are blown?

To figure out if they are blown compress the spring to take the tension off the shock and then push the shock down and see if it rebounds by itself. If the shock doesn't come back up by itself then it's blown.
