picking up a Vibrant is probably the wiser choice if you want to root. Apparently HTC has now gone and done what Motorola did. They have not only locked their bootloader (Motorola was the first to do that) but they have locked the rom so even if you root and port cynogen or whatever to it, it reverts back to stock the minute you turn it off.
I liked HTC stuff till this. Once again the way Google has allowed people to handle Android is screwing the end user. LOL

What do you guys think about the Motorola prototype tablet running an early build of "Honeycomb" (Android 3.0) ?
Google’s Andy Rubin shows off Motorola tablet prototype running Android 3.0 | BGR | Boy Genius Report I'm actually interested to see the final product and would consider it if there is a 7" model with a matte screen.

I'm onboard for the first 3.0 Android tablet at 10" size. I've got an iPad now, and it's fine, but I'm looking forward to replacing it with a more feature filled device. Hopefully that tablet they demonstrated will be out by June or so.

I just got my Sharp IS03, it's still running 2.1 for now, but supposed to get the upgrade to 2.2 soon, maybe they'll just go straight to 2.3 but I doubt it.
Love the phone so far, smooth, and the display is amazing, it's the same size and resolution as the iPhone 4, looks great! |

HTC G2 > Vibrant
Flash, keyboard, indicator light. Htc seems more solid than my vibrant. Vibrant had a better display and is bigger, but the other stuff on the htc out weighs the vibrant. Both great phones, g2 just works better for me.

This.
I really don't like my Captivate. It gets slow and annoying, and I even have 2.2 hacked onto it and it's rooted.

I have OC'ed the processor to 1.4 GHZ running stability testing and everything. Linpack scores are 18.7 Neocore 59 FPS. Quadrant with EXT4 with Journaling is 1900+... Assonance ROM 4.1 with Complete working GPS Couple that iwth Launcher Pro Plus with Spare Parts... This thing is super fast... So I think so far it IS the fastest phone the market. The new Google S is a i9000 Galaxy S. Same phoneas any other Samsung except its running Gingerbread. Processor they "say" should be a 1.2.... If anyone needs help hacking your Galaxy S let me know. Its easy as pie.....

How did you overclock it? Where did you get the Launcher and what is "Spare Parts"? I have mine rooted with Froyo and it's definitely faster than 2.1 but it still get's really glitchy and locks up for a few seconds sometimes. And does anyone use Advanced App Killer? I heard that it's slower to run that app than to not have it. Any insight?

O nice....
Preface, USE THE PAID version of Titamium Backup as that can restore all your programs and data in one-click. Free version of Titamium Backup doesn't. Here.... Lemme do this for you as it can get a little confusing on XDA forums.... 1. Export your phone book to the external sd card. 2. Copy everything from the Internal and External SD card to a computer 3. Download and Install Windows Driver for your phone: Windows 64bit: usb_drivers_GalaxyS_x64.zip Windows 32bit: SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones_x86.exe 4. Download One-Click Odin this reverts EVERYTHING back to Original ATT. Extract with Winrar. http://www.thevod.org/misc/captivate...l-OCD-REV0.rar 5. Open Odin.exe, plug in your phone WHILE its on into your computer. 6. Hit Master Clear - This will DELETE EVERYTHING on your phone. 7. Then it reboots and the phone turns into a state like when you just bought it. GO through the setup again and get back to the home screen. 8. Download One-Click Root for Galaxy S here: MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service 9. Use One-Click Root to root your phone. You do this by going to your phone click the App button | Settings | Applications | Development | Check Debugging. Plug in your phone and double click on One-Click Root. Follow the instructions on screen 10. NOW THE FUN BEGINS!!! 11. From Market Download ROM MANAGER. 12. Open ROM MANAGER | Select Flash Clockword Mod Recovery. 13. Download the Rom ASSONANCE 4.3 Here: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites! 14. Load the Assonance zip file into your phones internal SD card. You can do this by just moving files as normal into your phone. You can load all the stuff you have backed up back into your phone now as well. 15. Go back into ROM Manager Now, select reboot into recovery. 16. Then it will go into recovery mode in the phone. Choose reinstall package again. 17. Then CLOCKWORK replaces the recovery. Select install a zip from the sdcard. 18. Choose the zip from SD card. and choose assonance.zip and you are done. Final: You can use Titanium Backup to restore your programs, but its cleaner if you just reinstall one by one from Market. Your contacts can be imported since you made a backup of it.

Hey guys, not sure you guys care, but I just found out how to slingbox stuff over 3g to my Android and you can control your computer to start playing files.
You can use Rockplayer to play all media files on your android including .avi (divx) files. THen you use the best thing that happened to Android! GMOTE!!! Gmote.org Slingbox is basically you have on your computer like picture, music, video and you basically play it on tv AND you can play it on your Android.....
