17X8.5 all around with 255. will it cause problems?
is it possible for me to run 255 on all four corners on my S14 without rubbing problems in the front? im guessing it'll be nor problem in the rear. i want the same tires all around for balance and the option of rotating my tires
a 255 tires is about 10 inches wide which means it'll stick out about 3/4 of an inch on both sides. will this cause the tires to flex under hard cornering? any other problems with going this wide on a somewhat smaller wheel width? thanks for any input Henry |

yeah its possible to run 255 all around, thats a lot of rubber though, i'd run something less wide for the 8.5 rim.

Pretty useless question without posting offset.
and 255 is kinda bulgey on an 8.5 anyway. 235 or 245 would be better, 235 would be best IMO as far as how well the tire fits the wheel. I run 235's on 9" +20 all around, could go 245 if I rolled my fenders a little.

o yea offset, i completly forgot, it would probably be +20 if i decide to go with the rota D2's but yea, i was thinking of 235 but i was jus considering 255 if it didnt pose too many problems in the front, also if it doesnt flex the sidewall under cornering.
i searched and read that running too wide of a tire on a smaller rim width will be pointless due to the actually grip put down. it might be the same or less compared to that of a smaller tire on the same size wheel. im not sure if 255 is too much for a 8.5 so i just wanted to ask for opinions thanks for the replies |

yes, 255 is definitely waaaaaaay too much for a 8.5" rim...this is coming from a "non jdm tyte driftar stretch" standards...that sidewall will be so cush during cornering...235 would be good if you dont mind not being exact with stock specs...
besides, with a 255 on a 8.5 with +20 offset, i would imagine a world of rubbing with fenderliners, coils, fenders, etc...of course its all objective...we dont know how low your cars gonna be, springs/shock or coilovers, if your planning to roll and pull, etc...id say go lower and take care of all of the above...

will it fit on an s14?? ALL DAY. Ive got that setup on my s13. 17x8.5 DT05R w/255/40/17 Falken azenis rt615. I dont really rub anywhere much, only under complete lock (w/tein tie rods). And my 255 dont bulge AT ALL. But then again azenis sidewalls are stiff that they dont really stretch or bulge at all. I had a 225/45 on the same wheel before and it sat the same as my 255's do. Run it, dont be a bitch
