Z31 that drifts
This is my turd. I paid $1000 for it....sometime in 2010 I think. Dont know, had like 40 z31s. Anywhoooo....
It was a mess when I got it...solid, straight chassis...but the hood was banged up and the hatch glass was broken. What a turd! lol So I had what I believed was a cracked manifold... It was a big crack... Escalated quite quickly, actually. Together: Wait...rewind for a second. I forgot to mention, this was a factory automatic car. So another project was auto to manual swap. I did that in a day, no real pictures. ugly mess though here: New hood, blah blah Front mount: I'm going to skip all of the lame lowering spring stuff...and jump right to the fun. Awesome CLSD (not stock) in factory Z31 diff case, with finned cover. Best $25 ever spent: Rolling shot from earlier this year...was on lame Suspension Techniques springs and Bilstein HDs THEN...the good stuff: Straight pipe back on: The front wasnt quite low enough...went a touch lower. Rubs on fenders now...meh These did not last long.... Random crap: Engine/Engine Management: A/B series VG30ET '87 A/B series Crank Pulley, Water Pump pulley & PS Pump Sentra 100A Alternator '88T Injectors/Rails '84T ECU PRW-2 Ignition Transistor '95 CAS NGK Plug Wires Z32 Fuel Filter Walbro 255LPH HP Fuel Pump Gutted Plenum /w Removable Lid FMIC Setup /w 2.5" pipes CM 3" Turbo-back /w test pipe MBC @ 12psi Ported Turbo-Automatic oil pump SLC PurePlus 2 Wideband Drivetrain South Bend DXD Stage 3 Daily clutch (240mm, 530ft-lb rated) FS5W71C (FS5R30A soon...) CLSD Suspension/Steering/Brakes 88T Front hubs 88T Front Rotors 88T Front Calipers Poly Swaybar Bushings (Addco/Prothane mix) Poly Zenki Tension Rod Bushings Powertrix Coilovers (9k/7k) I have Z32 calipers for it...need to buy rotors...I also have some brand new billet steering knuckles my friend and I make that I havent even put on yet....and theres other random crap I probably forgot...oh well. Thats my turd. I rev it to 6500rpm daily and beat the piss out of it and it takes all of the abuse. Last edited by z31na2t; 11-03-2013 at 11:38 AM.. |

From the 18th:
So today I did the Poly trans mount finally, and poly tension rod bushings while I wait for ASCO's to become in stock again, or for Touge Factory to release theirs |

Sooo...this happened:
So I figured it was a good time to install some stuff I've had for a while Swapped out the cheapo boost gauge for an autometer I found Then I threw a RSB-07 CAS in for giggles...absolutely nothing changed with how it ran. |

BIG Update alert
SO, while drifting I could only go for so long before it'd start to run warm because the maxima fans suck balls. I decided it was time to go to the good old trusty Taurus fan. Step one was pulling the bumper cover I got the maxima fan removed and the taurus fan in....the next issue was my intercooler routing. I had to cut some of the taurus fans shroud down so the pipe could go over it. So i got it all back in and wired up and such. I then noticed once the bumper cover was back on and the hood was shut...as soon as the fan turned on the car would want to stall or would stall. SO, the solution was a shield/cover for the air filter to keep the air/turbulance from the fan down....its not the prettiest, but it works! Function > form (for the most part) And ready for the next weekend... THEN...One of my cam seals started leaking...so I decided to take all this shit apart again.. Then started reassembly after changing the cam seals, and cleaning the oil off stuff And back together... Sunday 9/15! Had a blast, ran out of tires fast beause I didnt have many and one set was a bitch and came apart immediately. Had fun anyways. I really love the car with the ASCO solid motor mounts, poly trans mount and other random bits. 9/23 was fun...2 New Z31s! My friend Jeremiah bought a minty 87NA with 90k miles, and we went in on a 86T parts car with 102,000 miles which has less rust than 99% of all Z31s. He just wants the engine parts. 10/3 was rear brake time for drifty-car Shit pads were shit: After getting it all back together I adjusted the parking brake then I went and performed an e-brake 180 from about 60mph...so now we're all good with the e-brake functioning properly which should add to the fun. A week or so prior I ordered a brand new 86GL dash harness so I could make use of my analog dash. It came on the 4th. I got all of the analog dash stuff installed...pictures later? On the 19th I decided to do some tinkering and "maintenance"/modifications. Z31Parts poly diff mount: And some pictures from the event a few days prior Not a spin: The 27th was the last event of the season for me. I got ready late Saturday Night. I had mounted more tires than this: |
