New ssqv barely releasing

I just bought a new ssqv from enjuku (not the fake one on the site) and I'm getting a lot of compressor surge and very very little air coming from the valve.
Specs.
Greddy manifold
Stock s14 throttle wheel (carb style return spring)
IACV delete
Gt2871r 12lbs

I've done a vacuum leak check with starter fluid with no change in idle what so ever.

Mine had a decent amount of surge just free reving it. you're only going to hurt the turbo if you're surging underboost or not venting any air at all. Some surge is just fine. I switched to a Tial and now miss scaring little kids with my ssqv

Did you install it on the cold side....

... because that what happens when you install it on the cold side.

otherwise, your vacuum signal is just weak. Big cams will do that, or an incorrect vacuum line routing.
