Vacuum reading
Okay so I'm looking to buy a 240 with an sr20 red top has a hks blow off valve if that matters and I was wondering if -17 vacuum is really low, like if it has boost leaks? Thanks in advance

You should boost leak test it regardless.

Get a pvc cap, drill a hole in it.
Put a valve stem in the hole. Put it in the coupler hot side of the turbo. Hook air compressor to valve stem. Apply air (boost) to system. Listen for leaks. Also, my sr idled at -18 with no issues. |

One of my friends had an aluminum 3" hose end welded to an NPT fitting that threads onto a digital tire pressure unit so he can fill to specific psi and check for leaks. Pretty neat.

If you're just looking for leaks in your intercooler piping, etc. Use the cap method, and hook up it up to an air compressor to like 5-10PSI and spray soapy water to all the couplers and if there's a leak, you will see bubbles forming
