I took some time off from working on it. I got fitted into a new brace that allows my knee to bend but holds the knee cap inwards so the tendons can repair themselves. It hurt pretty bad for a week. The new brace put pressure on the fractures and bruised bones. I decided to let it heal up a little. A couple days ago I painted the corners of the trunk that had gotten damaged.
It turned out pretty good. Not bad for a "arts and crafts" paint brush haha. I buffed the trunk. I got the front and rear bumpers buffed also. On a side note, while buffing today this sketch middle aged guy came out of my woods trying to sell cleaning services. He had a poorly made name tag and a bag of clear spray bottles. There were no actual lables, only hand written identifiers. They read special widow spray, tuff carpet spray, hard stain spray, and all purpose general disinfectant orange spray. I declined all services. He then talked to me about my car for 10 minutes then randomly asked me for a drink and a bag of chips. So I gave him a drink to get rid of him. He walked away singing/dancing/snapping along to what he was singining. I don't think he was a hobo. He had to be on something. |

Thanks man. When you paint your own car you always see every imperfection. My car has it's share of imperfections, but that's to be expected when painting without a real booth. I have a couple dings I missed and added a couple when my knee went out holding the trunk. But all and all it looks pretty good.

I put it on the back burner for a few weeks but I think it's time to get heavy back into it. My physical therapist told me to try to be active on it. Ill regain range if motion quicker.

I buffed the hood and got it on.
Before I bolted the hood on, I painted the bolts black. I finished buffing the fenders and installed them along with the rear bumper. (not quite in that order) I had to hurry and get everything in. Rain started to move in. Apparently it's going to rain for the next couple days, so I don't think I'll be getting to much done. Wednesday I'm getting a new winshield installed. Hopefully the forcast doens't change and it stays rain free wednesday. |

I haven't gotten a lot done in the past week. Physical therapy has been rough. I did however get a new windshield installed. I also finished buffing the side skirts, lips, and fuel door.
I also installed the trunk and lights. Like I had mentioned before, it had been in a rear end collision before I had bought it. Among other things this caused the right rear tail light not to fit perfectly. It had a gap around the top of the lense and didn't line up with the trunk portion of the lights. Nothing a hammer and drill couldn't fix. I then began installing the custom rear lip made from an accord. In the process of drilling holes, paint chipped away. I wasn't happy with that so i touched up the rear bumper. Everything should be cured on sunday so I can finish the rear lip. I installed the harness and relay for the hids. In the near future I plan on doing bi-xenon dual projecters, both demon eye with halos, and clear lenses. But for the time being here's my demon eye teaser. |

I'll answer as it's mine. It's a 1.5hp husky 25gallon and flows 4.0cfm @90psi it works fine with an hvlp gun but a traditional gun can not keep up if you want top paint a whole car at once.

Quote:
1 quart of epoxy primer 1 quart expoxy primer activator 1 gallon 2k primer 1 quart 2k primer activator 1 gallon universal clear 4 quarts of universal clear activator 1 gallon of base 1 gallon of reducer (good to have extra to clean up or reduce primer of clear) With the color change I needed more base since I painted the door jams, under hood, etc. It took about three coats of base to fully cover. |

How did you touch this up with the paint being base-clear? The leading edges of my fenders and the end of my hood is starting to get a bit worn..
