Best budget intake manifold out there?

I'm on a tight budget here but I still want to upgrade my intake manifold to something bigger than stock.

Anyone here have a sleeper brand that is more affordable than Greddy and other well known brand.

I was hoping ISR (ISIS) was going to re-introduce their budget intake manifold but upon checking with them, I found out that they won't be bringing that back onto market.

Realistically what are my options here?
- port and polish?
- ebay brand?
- other brands?
- Luck out and score a used one for cheap...

My target price is under $300...maybe $400 at most.

I've been in the s14 game for 15 years now and have NO plans what-so-ever to EVER sell my car. I still love to do work on it to break away from the daily grind of my life. I'm about to work on getting my z32 brakes on the car and want to do my intake manifold next

The ISIS manifolds were just repackaged Ebay manifolds, so you will only save money by buying one directly off Ebay.

Do not expect any performance gains, because even the real Greddy manifold is mostly just for looks.

I am not sure of gains. I know you will loose bottom end with an aftermarket intake manifold. I would say save the money.

target hp is probably around the ~350HP mark with my redtop SR

I have a lot of other goodies that I"m sitting on that i'm waiting to put on. I like to snipe things on forums or local classified to put on later.

using the s14 T28 turbo on stock internals for now. I've had this engine since 2003 and I'm still debating on what I'll do when it finally gives. Since I don't daily drive it no more, it's been doing good, but I'll need to consider a rebuild or swap to something else soon

I'm a fan of the knock off jun on eBay. But with out cams it will hurt top end. And must tune after install of any brand intake man!300whp is all you'll get out of that t28 maybe with cams and on a dyno jet u might get a little closer to your goil.

how can I tell it's a Jun knockoff? Do you know guys running that manifold?

I'll probably pick up a GT2871 down the line. Who knowns, maybe even go top mount.

Chop runners and have a custom plenum and larger tb flange welded on. But that will do no good with turbo that can't flow enough to support the larger volume.

Stock intake is more than enough at that power level

if thats the one then I already saw it and passed. I'd rather spend that coin on a legit greddy mani.

$530 + 130 shipping ain't exactly budget.

for now I'll stay on the stock mani and keep my eyes out for guys selling used mani for cheap on here and the local classified.

At some point I'll rebuild my engine and will most likely want to go bigger turbo and do the mani at that time.

Basically unless you're flowing upwards of 400 your stock manifold will be better than an aftermarket.

Edit: damn someone said it already

Restriction is in the head, not the manifold.

I chose the Greddy manifold because:
1) I dont like money
2) I prefer the looks and simplicity of the Greddy unit

Never noticed a loss of bottom end, so I happily sold my OE manifold.

If you are looking for power, spend money elsewhere.

Agreed. The loss of mid-range would negatively outweigh the gain in the top-end. The GReddy manifold is better suited to larger turbos that don't have a mid-range to begin with and need the extra volume up top.

From what I've seen in the 2871 thread, it seems that the GReddy intake is required for 400whp with that turbo. I've seen one car with 400+whp with the stock intake, but it had a GTX30. It could only hit those numbers because of both the less restrictive turbine and manifold, and the increased efficiency of the GTX compressor wheel.
