Lybia, Bombs away!!!
This thread is to discuss our's and the un's recent terrorist activities in Libya (I refuse to call them wars anymore, I don't like to glorify murder)
Now to understand whats going on you must know what has caused this revolution. Despite what the media has been reports Gadhafi is not the president of Libya and actually holds no official title in the government. He holds more of a ceremonial position like the queen of England or Akihito of Japan. The real leader of Libya is Baghdadi Mahmudi. The media has spun this as if its a revolution against Gadhafi when it is actually a revolution against the Libyan government and most Libyans are pro Gadhafi. Now you might ask yourself, then why would the the us and un be demonizing Gadhafi and using this as an excuse to kill him yes they have already attempted to murder him: Allied forces strike Gadhafi compound; leader's whereabouts unknown - CNN.com Anywho, Libya is an oil rich countries. And one of the few oil rich countries in Africa that is not essential owned and run by a foreign multinational oil company like how shell is to nigeria. Actually, 2 years ago Gadhafi declared that the Libyan government had failed its people and made it so all the profits from their oil production went straight to the people (32 billion per year). So you can see how alot of very influential people both in Libya and out despise Gadhafi. Lets also take a look at some stats about Libya. Libya is not some terrible 3rd world country like some of you might just assume. Libya has a lower incarceration rate then the Czech Republic (61st in the world). Libya has Africa's lowest infant mortality rate. Libya has the highest life expectancy in all of Africa. Less then 5% of the populaton is malnorished. Libya actaully abolished food tax to help the poor eat. Libra also has the highest GDP and PPP in all of Africa. Libya has the highest human development index of any country in Africa. In Libya less people live below the poverty line then in the Netherlands. |

part 2
You can't really compare this to Egypt or Tunisia. This is much much more violent. The corrupt Libyan government is indeed using excessive violence. I do like how the media is calling them "pro gadhafi forces instead of the Lybian army"... However let us look for a moment at the actions of the protesters. The building of the the general people’s congress, the parliament of Libya, was put on fire by angry protestors. This is comparable to protesters putting the United States Capitol on fire. Do you think that for even a moment the US government would sit idly by as protesters put the US capitol on fire? The violent group responsible for alot of the violence is called the "Islamic Emirate or Barka". They have taken many hostage, killed police, and even raided an army depot killing soldiers and stealing 70 army vehicles. No if this happened in the us do you think for a moment that the us government wouldn't slaughter these people without a second thought? So were did the sudden uprising come from??? The answer is that the same groups the US has been funding for decades are now taking their chance to gain control over the nation. A group recently arrested in Libya consisted of dozens of foreign nationals that were involved in numerous acts of looting and sabotage. The Libyan government could not rule out links to Israel. Great Britain funded an Al Qaeda cell in Libya, in an attempt to assassinate Gadaffi. The main opposition group in Libya now is the National Front for the Salvation of Libya. This opposition group is being funded by Saudi Arabia, the CIA, and French Intelligence. This group unified itself with other opposition groups, to become the National Conference for the Libyan Opposition. It was this organization that called for the “Day of Rage” that plunged Libya into chaos on February 17 of this year. So why does the US in particular have a bone to pick with Gadhafi? Because he is the single greatest threat to US hegemony in Africa and has been fighting to unite Africa against us. Yet he also urged Libyans to donate blood to Americans after 9/11. |

I wish Americans were educated/cared enough to do anything about things like this.
But as long as everyone is fat and happy no one cares about corruption. I honestly think we need another revolution.

Also, why is it that his own government officials assigned around the world have defected and spoken out against him? Seems like the people on the inside see him as someone who is in power in Libya. Also, his eldest son is in a higher ranking position in the army, actually commands one of the most elite groups within it. And has spoken out that he takes orders directly from his father. I'm not trying to say you are wrong, or start a huge argument, I actually have a genuine interest in a lot of what you said, and agree with some of your points. I just want to get some clarification and insight on a few of the finer points I mentioned. We do, for sure, the problem is Americans are too lazy to rise up. We would also have to do it in a way that would be nonviolent. A violent revolution like what you have seen around the world in the past 100 years would destroy not only our economy but the entire worlds. It would be disastrous.

I agree! I think Gaghafi needs to step down. I am just providing an objective point of view. My main concern is that the us and un will step in and hijack this so they can put their own puppet in place so that they can rape their natural resources.
Technically his position is ceremonial but like the queen of england he can step in and overrule the congress and pm. |

I truly hope this ends with some sort of election that is completely controlled by the Libyan people, I don't want to see another election where their are US/UN forces guarding the polls and a ballet full of UN approved candidates.

the worst part is the UN repeatedly told Obama that airstrikes against Libya were against UN policy, but he did them anyway on his own
this is going to alienate Europe, could be the start of WWIII
