97 head on 96 block with 96 cams baffle
Hey guys,
So I'm running a 97 head on my 96 block with 96 cams and I understand I'm supposed to manufacture some sort of baffle for the rear of the head so that oil doesn't just go anywhere. I was wondering if anyone had any sort of example of making a similar type of baffle or what they did to remedy this problem. Thanks |

Real easy, look at the back of the head, you won't have the rearmost cam towers. Directly above that location on the underside of the valve cover are the two vents, they're rectangular openings. Just cut a thin piece of tin or sheet metal and secure it to the bottom side of the valve cover, over these openings, but only on one side, leaving it 'loose' so that vapors/pressure can escape. You basically just want a shield to block oil from spraying directly into those openings but not be sealed tight to trap pressure in.
