SR Are my vacuum lines hooked up right?

  • S13
  • SR20DET
  • T28 Turbo
  • HKS SSQV BOV

I'm utterly confused. I can't figure out my BOV/Turbo and I think it's the vacuum lines. I made this huge picture to explain my setup, so read that first. Now, why in the hell would that line make the car die when it's on the hotpipe?

Shouldn't that middle nipple on the boost selonoid be vented to atmosphere? Left side to top port of wg and right side to turbo (tee'd to lower port of wg). It's how I have my haltech boost solenoid set up.

Yeah, I thought the center port was the "vent".

This is my first turbo'd car so I'm still figuring all this stuff out. I have an internal wastegate with a wastegate actuator. The left nipple is going to the Wastegate Actuator. (Red line is left solenoid nipple, green line is middle nipple)

So, if the middle nipple just has the hose hanging free instead of hooked up to the hotpipe, do I need another hose for the right nipple? This is what it looks like...

It's just a solid nippley-cork-thing. Like nothing could pass through it.

middle nipple/port is to left alone...... here is a diagram for internal wastegate setups.

I googled for less than 5 mins and found your answer. Definitely dig a bit, answers like these are definitely out there.

although this is for a manual boost controller, it's the same thing for electronic.

Technical Articles | Manual Boost Controller Installation | Turbosmart USA

for that model boost controller

These are a little clearer than the ones from jegs but it looks like you have it setup just fine. Nipple on left goes to wastegate and center nipple gets boost pressure. To simplify things eliminate the boost controller and run wastegate pressure for now. Connect the wastegate directly to your boost source.

also are you getting flutter? or what?
If the HKS unit is adjustable and its not opening it could be at too stiff of a spring pressure.

This too, it is the easiest way to initially set up your blow off valve because you can make sure nothing else is interferring

"Boost pressure" means the hotpipe nipple, like on this picture right?

[Green lined hose is the center nipple, red is left nipple]

Yes the hotpipe is fine. It also looks like that hose is way to big and not on there very well.

Ok, see that's my problem. When I have it hooked up just like that, the car dies. Take it off the hotpipe and it runs like a champ. I don't understand it.

And yeah, I just had it on there for a quick picture.

hmm... How does the car run otherwise? Have you tried it with the maf disconnected? Sounds like your running way to rich and when you take away that extra air at idle it chokes.

Yes, I've tried it with the MAF disconnected and it ran alright, but that was without the hose hooked up. I know I'm running rich because of this that's going on in my trunk.

I doubt that is making the car run rich. Looks like they just rigged a way to turn on the fuel pump. The stock fuel pressure regulator should still be doing it's job.
