I've been contemplating this lately with having the Z33 trans in two of my S13's. I'm thinking of having a fabricator friend make me a removable/replaceable steel skid plate that bolts to the frame rails, spanning across them and just over the transmission. Yeah you use a little more ground clearance, but then you can just boardslide across that thing all day long and not hurt the trans, and then replace it off of a template when the time comes.
Something like welded nuts in the rails, and counter sunk screws into the plate.

I used to be against skid plates when my car was super slammed, because there wasn't any room between the street and the bottom of the car for a skid plate lol. But after ripping the oil pan off an engine and raising the car a bit, it's definitely a more appealing option than breaking the car.

My roommates project. He took my KA and refreshed it. He really wants to LSx swap it but in the mean time this will do. Body/Paint first then go back and swap it.

It almost done. I have only one fan running since these draw so many amps. need another relay for the second fan. It is also breaking up underboost at times, i think i need to play with the plug gap. I have bkr7e's in there but I cant remember what i gapped them too.

I ran 2 seperate relays for my fans with seperate 10G wires to power each one, and that solved a shit load of issues for me. Although my fans flow like 3600CFM, so when the fans come on at a red light or something the car drops like 500rpm for a second, lmao.

Also, after inspecting plug gap (I run mine at .028 on my KA with LS coils) you might want to inspect the coils for a weak one or just swap to LS coils. The JZ coils are known for going to trash in their age.

I fixed the breaking up issue, it was just the gap. Pulls like a raped ape now. Only strange issue is the rev limiter, it seems to hit like a fuel cut instead of limiter. I have the one fan running off a thermostatic relay that kicks on at 165. im going to get another one to turn on the second fan at 210, should be good to go then. But yeah these pull just about 4K cfm as well

Most likely, it allows you to gain some caster.

Its been a minute, just minor changes to suspension. Villans angle kit, gk tech sway bars. Starting to really learn the car, its a super fun and reliable set up

Thanks dudes, just added an Xcessive skid plate last night. It bolts right up since my oil pan was pretty smushed in... already replaced it once. Next up is subframe bushings
