seems like yet another paper launch for big navi.
https://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-rx-6...-launch-stock/ youd think with tsmc things would better than nvdia. hopefully in Q1 '21 you can buy these things without hassle. |

It's like this with every major gpu/cpu launch. The supply always has to catch up to the demand.
2020's demand is unprecedented.

The RXT30xx-series was just as brutal. People were camping out in front of Micro Center and other computer companies just to scalp the things afterwards. It's a shit show. I'm sure with the limited amount of time plants overseas had to make these came into play. I ended up paying a little over retail for a RTX3090 but I'm glad I didn't wait or settled for something less. This full build is absolutely bonkers and I don't even use it to it's potential.

What are yall playing right now? I decided I am going to tackle my backlog. Started playing sleeping dogs after I finished Limbo, Inside and Yakuza 0. Last time I played was 2016. I am now doing, one in, one out.

I downloaded a few VR games as this is what it was built for essentially [and video editing but mostly gaming as time allots]. It's really going to fuel a Valve INDEX for my full racing rig. If I hate the VR, I will probably go triple curved screen but for now, it does well.
I'm not a huge A, W, S, D gamer but tried practicing at stuff like Overwatch, CoD [I play this on console mainly], Rainbow 6 [also play on console] and other games I'm familiar with to hopefully ease the burden of getting better. I do enjoy some Starcraft action here and there but hoping to get better in computer gaming as I have the powerhouse to do so. |

yeah that's tempting. curious how well a ps5 would work with gaming monitors. not sure ps5 has a display port and not sure if one would need a new monitor that's hdmi 2.1 compatible.

makes sense that ps5 hardware isn't likely to make use of hdmi 2.1. maybe just future proofing a bit, but would be nice to have a tv that supports future consoles that might offer 4k above 60hz.
shame ps5 dont support 1440p or 3440x1440 ultrawide res. 1080p or 4k seem like only choices. good excuse to upgrade to 4k Last edited by ronmcdon; 11-20-2020 at 10:10 PM.. |

How's everyone's luck been with the QC on gaming monitors in the sub $500 range?
I tried out 3-4 of them earlier this year and all either had noticeable backlight bleeding from the get go, or would develop it after a week. Has this gotten any better? |

I bought this used on ebay for less than 500. I have had no complaints about it. Got even better when gysnc started to work on freesync monitors.

I care but its so far out I cannot trust it. At this point the 6800xt or the 3080 is a huge leap from my 1080ti so Im ready for either.
I'm much more interested in a 3080ti.

1080ti still does pretty well. Mine gets around 55fps avg give or take on 3440p ultra settings with AC Valhalla. i'm somewhat tempted to go 6900xt but that would be just so that I can upgrade to a 4k monitor.
but yes I can empathiize how these paper launches and lenghtly delays have been pretty frustrating. to be fair covid has screwed up a lot of stuff this year. even a set of dunlop z3 tires, something readily available at other times took me over 3 months to get. |

Oh for sure. the 1080ti is still a beast. Im getting 90+ fps in black ops.
At this point I just want a whole new rig. I am looking at possibly rocket lake 8/16 if they take back the gaming crown from Amd. Still feels weird to say that.....

why not just go amd if you're building a new rig from the ground up? their current cpu and gpu seems to pair really well and the 6900xt seems to deliver being a 3090 competitor at 2/3 the cost (assuming we get msrp at some point and theres no driver issues).
doesn't hurt to wait for the 3080ti but good luck waiting on that to be readily available at msrp. would probably be q2 '21 at best. |

I will if the performance is there once rocket lake comes out.
I want the best gaming 8c/16t cpu. When everything is back in stock I will go with which ever one you’re still the best.
