lol that picture above is funny..
but people, honestly.. stop posting your ideas on the internet, asking for peoples approval.
You will always get the same results.. some hate it, while some love it.
Do what YOU want to do.
I have a sunroof and I love it b.c it cools ya down in the summer
Also, to the kid who said it makes the car more "rigid" without one, Lol rightt..
just like my paint job adds 20+ hp

They do a good job of venting cigarette smoke. I don't know how much you paid for the car, but if it wasn't much I say fuck it, put your fab skills to the test.

according to my 1991 240sx brochure from the dealer, the power sunroof was only an option in the coupe SE and cost an additional 800$. The manual flip-up sunroof was a $450 option only on the fastback SE and LE. Get this....a base model 5-speed coupe had a suggested list price of $14,095. Cheap as fuck.

This pisses me off as I own a base model coupe that some jackalope decided to have a sunroof put in. Looking at the brochure will make you sick as all the cars are super super clean. Not to mention the badass fold out hatchback poster.

89 coupe with a stock sunroof. i love it. never leaks, no wind noise, never gets stuck. i use it everyday here in tx. especially at night when driving.

complaining about super rigidness is dumb unless its a dedicated track car. not your wanna be drift missile at some meet up wed nights that looks like hammered shit.

putting in a sunroof does not weaken a car at all the only reason they dont let them on track is the glass in case of rollover, but , I dont think every single person with a 240 gives a rats ass about tracking their car. I have had my car 8 years never been on a track (with this car) I drag raced my '72 440 twin turbo charger for 15 years and it had a ASC sunroof!

If you're serious. Buy Autoport Model 1735, what I have installed on my 240 hatch.

http://www.sunroofdoctor.com/popupkits.htm

Originally my car came with an aftermarket sunroof but had no glass and I couldn't find the brand for the glass so I had to cover the roof with cardboard. Bought that exact model from sunroof doctor. Got it installed onto my car for 400 Dollars. They had to take off the original sunroof off and cut my roof a tad big bigger to fit the new one. Holds up pretty well.

Pictures?

And yes, I'm seriously thinking about it. I miss my Mustang and it's aftermarket sunroof... which leaked, but it was a POS.

I was considering trying to retro-fit a OEM unit or the Webasto Hollandia 100 pop-up, but I can't seem to find anyone that sells the Webasto.

Webasto comes highly regarded and the Tacoma guys love the power roof options and lifetime leak warranty provided by authorized dealers. My local dealer still hasn't gotten back to me with the estimate.

I really don't know how a OEM would work, As I remember on my original hatch before it got totaled. The roof had a little indention for the sunroof to lay in and actually was not fitted on the roof. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it well but you probably know what I mean or someone else could explain better than me.

Not sure what type of picture you want, Heres one of it inside and fitted. Then there's one with how it looks popped up on the car. If you want different pictures I can take some tomorrow when its daylight.

I was just teasing, man. I'm over here dealing with the OEM trim & rubber seals on my S14 sunroof trying to disintegrate, so it just makes me wonder how anyone could actually want this option in their car.

Shit, I wonder if I can take it all out & put it a new aftermarket unit? Cheaper than replacing the OEM trim for sure.

My old '76 280Z had an aftermarket sunroof... I had a hell of a time tracking down a seal for it 30 years later after it had rotten out... A leaky sunroof in a S30 = Flintstones car in no time

you had a hell of a time tracking down seals because seals typically dont exist

i am the 2nd owner of my s13, and unfortunately the 1st owner had the dealer install a MOTHER FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT aftermarket sunroof. the fuckers cut into the pristine roof and put that junk moonroof in.

of course, a decade later and you've got water leakage when you take a hard turn, whistling at highway speeds, etc... and the "sun moon star company" is no longer to be found. parts and seals do not exist, and you're basically up shits creek without a paddle

weld shut was my only option, though i'm still on the hunt for a non sunroof car to scavenge the roof skin from. i'll get around to that, someday.

fuck sunroofs.... fuck them up the ass

Yeah, one of my old s13's had an aftermarket sunroof that leaked like crazy. Everyone saying it doesn't change chassis rigidity, I beg to differ. Pulling in and out of angled driveways with my coils on made the roof creak something fierce.

Bought my s13 with a poorly executed DIY sunroof that was crooked and leaked like a teenage girl on her menstrual cycle.. Needless to say, it took my paint and body guy 2 days to patch it up and reinforce it to be as close to oem as it can get. Advice? Don't do it, you will regret it..

Why would you buy a car with a "poorly executed diy sunroof" that is "Crooked"?

Thats like saying "I bought a half wrecked 240sx with lots of rust... cost me a lot of money to fix the rust and get the body straight... don't buy a 240sx"
