Alright seeing as though I'm a local. Forget about Mowhawk. Go to Centennial College. By far the best automotive technical institute in Ontario. I'm going there in April and almost anyone who actually holds an apprenticeship albeit through a stealership, private or Canadain Tire ends up there. Centennial > all.

Find a shop to work at and work towards an apprenticeship. The 1 or 2 year courses the Trades schools have are useless... you will know the theory very well but when it comes to actually working on the cars you will be miles behind apprentices who worked hands on while you were in a desk.
just my .02 cents. |

I can tell you their Technical programs are good and on taff we ave about 35 Alumni- not me though.
The other big technical college is Sheridan from which we've also hired and have co-ops. I work for a Cisco Partner/ solutions provider btw. WRT to Engineering I'd go for Mc Master or York even UofT |
