Weird A/C issues on a 90' S13.
I've searched this forum with no success so I'm trying my luck with a new thread. I have a 90' S13 auto with factory A/C. I bought the car a couple months ago with working A/C then is just stopped working. The clutch stopped engaging on the old compressor, so I relaced the compressor with one from the local pull a part. It was very clean for the age and the compressor spun freely.
So I evacuated all the Freon, which seemed to be full, R/R compressor and recharged the system. Now it seems to work fine, gets nice and cold but something is shutting off the compressor after a few minutes of driving. It will start working again after about five minutes, just starts working again on it's own. I'm not real clear on A/C stuff so I'm kinda lost right now. Could it be an expansion valve or does it have some kinda pressure switch. I put 24 oz. of freon in the system, could it need more? The pressure gauges read good. I don't think its leaking freon.
Any help would be great.
