Wheel fitment question...IM SORRY!!!

First off, I've browsed through hundred of posts/threads about wheel fitment, but i cant seem to get a straight answer for the following question:

On a bone stock 1995 S14 SE, what are the widest/most flush wheels I can run without running any spacers while leaving the fenders/liners virgin?

Also, I'm not interested in stretching tires. In fact, I want to run a wider tire, so the wheels dont get scratched.

Oh yes, and one more thing, I want to run 4 equal size wheel and tires.

This car is a "community" daily driver in my family (even though its under my name and I drive it the most). Senior citizens and clueless women drivers tend to drive this car on occasion.

first, your concept of spacers is a bit off as poised in this question. spacers will only hurt your fitment in terms of fender if you already have the desired fitting wheels.

second, your goals don't really intermesh. you want a flush wheel but you don't want to stretch. if the wheel is flush and you go bulging tires the tires will stick out past the fender. if the tire bulge is flush, then the wheel will be sunk. you can't have it both ways.

best option for you imo is a conservative 8" wide wheel. pm dapcwiz. he had rota grid 8+20s. not sure on tire size but car wasn't too low at the time, which helps mask sunken fitment, esp with a big tire. wasn't too aggressive and seems to have the balance you're looking for.

another buddy of mine threw on some 9+15s with 245R 225F for the hell of it. his car is needlessly 4x4ing, so its fairly relevant. looked like this.

rear 245

both 225F and 245R


as you can see, wheel is nominally flush in front and just a bit sunk in the rear... but 245 will not protect the wheel from curbage. if you went with a wider tire to fix that, the tire would stick way out. and it really looks like ass with the car so high. in other words, i think you'd be best going with the option above... an 8" wide wheel with a conservative offset and a fairly fat tire.

i didnt realize i was contradicting myself as far as the "flush" statement went, but I'm pretty sure you realized what i really meant to say.

so hows some 17x8+20 all around, with 235/45/17s? I'd rather have the tires flush, with a slightly sunk tire.

also, the car is still on stock suspension, and will probably only see lowering springs (probably of eibach pro-kit nature).

for an 8+20 i can do better than give you thoughts

im running a 18x8 +22 with a 225 in the front and a 18x9.5 +22 with a 255 in the rear, they sit pretty flush i have no spacers, the only thing i had to do was on the inside on the rear roll the lip a little up not too much so the tire wont rub on the fender since mine is lowered on tein springs, i know you said you didnt want to touch the inner fender, but i only did it in the rear the front cleard fine and all the lining is untouched.

maybe i will rock spacers in the rear if it does look kind of retarded.

i'll probably get some gram lights of some sort.

I guess AznPoopy has cued me to join in. I have never run rims on a stock height 240... but I was running tein s-tech springs (~1" drop). I had 16x8 +20 wheels with 225/50/16 tires. Here are some fitment shots:

he had kyb agx's only when he took those pics

i don't think they are substantially different from stock shocks so i don't believe clearance will be an issue

but it's not like i ever put them up next to each other and compared. hopefully someone else can answer more definitively

yeah I had Tein S-tech springs with KYB AGX shocks. KYB AGX shocks pretty much follow the same dimensions of oem shocks. So if anything, I had less clearance than stock due to drop / wheel tuck from drop

I've had AGX's in the past, and really liked them.

So if i get some H.Techs or S.Techs with AGX's, 17x8 +22 with 225/45/17, i should be good?

sounds to me like it would fit. Running S-Tech w/ AGX at 1 all around is pretty comfortable, almost like stock. I think I daily'd 2/4 on the front and 6/8 in the back for a long time cuz it was comfortable. Then after a while I found myself dailying full stiff all around, and i knew it was time for coilovers, haha. Nah but Tein / AGX is a good combo if you wanna be comfortable.

okie dokie so i'm rocking S-techs and GR2's now, so the stock 16's are truly sunken battleships.
