Tune or am i safe?

Hello! Any suggestions are very appreciated! Just purchased a coupe with rt sr with a blitz KKK turbo kit w external waste gate. car is on bone stock ecu with stock injectors. Seller recommended tune, ecu and injector upgrade. car pulls hard and perfect, no hiccups or issues being on waste gate boost. Am i ok?

Thank you!

Nope, get what was recommended, tune it or have fun rebuilding it.

You have any idea what your afrs are? I would still do the injectors and a tune even though it seems fine. With that, it will allow you to squeeze a little more out of it in the hands of a competent tuner..

bigger injectors, Z32 MAF, INTERCOOLER, tune. Eventually a better rad if it heats a lot. Stock intercooler has a hard time cooling the stock charge, it must be creating a huuuuuuuuuuuge back pressure with that turbo...

What type of engine management do you have? Do you have any?
I would invest in a used power fc l jetro to get started they are plenty enough for most setups. I also offer a base map service for a small fee as well which would allow you to get it started right off the bat with a tune tailored for exactly what setup you are running without the cost of a full dyno sesh.

Tuning is the most important thing on performance setups for cars. Period. If you have all the nicest parts in the world and the tuning is off you will still blow up your engine and destroy your investment. Make sure to also take into account the quality of you fuel injectors, make sure you're using the right MAF sensor and the right fuel. Spark plugs are also critical. Make sure they are always gaped at .028 standard gaping and are heat range ngk 7 or higher.

Thanks and good luck!

you'll be fine with stock ecu. Nissan built fuel cut and bunch of other cut into stock ecu.

If every single item on that SR is JDM OEM, then yes, you do not need a tune. However, FI is not friendly to "one part at a time" mods without retuning. I mean, hell, even replacing your exhaust or intake with a different part would require you a tune. Changes in seasons and temperatures require a tune. Increasing boost require a tune.

Sheesh, aftermarket boost is such pain in the @$$, especially if it blows up on you.

Your are a dumbass. He doesn't need to spend a couple thousand buck when he doesn't have to. He is limited to what the ecu and maf he has which is stock. he can put 106mm turbo but will be only limited to 290 crank hp because he is limited to stock ecu and maf.

Like I said, you're an idiot, that is all. You need to do some research on how engines and ecus function. If he has a larger turbo than factory, possibly running higher boost, he needs injectors and a tune atleast.

OP, do you have a way to watch your A/F's? How much boost are you running?

Haha, if you downshift from 3rd to 2nd at 7400rpm does your fuel cut keep you from over revving?

Op, if you're debating getting larger injectors and a tune, why not get yourself a wideband to see what's up with your afrs? Do your own testing as opposed to listening to others' advice.

Thank you for all your help. I'm just wondering on this set up can i save a few bucks and go with a afc contr., FPR and injectors and take it to the tuner? rather than going aem or power fc?
