Lol I can only hope that next time will be less eventful, but so far my luck hasn't changed.

Car felt weak. I'm still on a 9.4 WG spring. Taylor is using a 2.7 on stock turbo ECU/injectors for now and he builds boost sooner and during wot 3rd through 4th only falls back a few feet.

Car "puffs" smoke from BOV. Wanna see how much?
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/3d0da0bd.mp4

Soooo, mad blow by. Rings are toast. Fuuuuuuun...

Tire is rubbin mad due to ratchet straps pulling it down lol. Left side is fine, will raise this side a tiny bit to match clearance on left.

Junkyard motors looked dodgy at best. Enter Taylors old 9.1 W block that burned a qt of oil every 2-3 days.

Box O Shit keepin it organized

Bearings looking good

New rings and head gaskets tomorrow.

Today...
Pretty much a sure bet we aren't making Streetwise on Saturday. Maybe we'll make Myrtle on Sunday.

Old motor is out.

"New" short block is together. Heads n shit to come later.

2 weeks after this drift day we went up to cherry point for an autocross. First run out and rod knock. My wallet needs a break so the car is down indefinitely.

I used to make and sell the rear adapter kits, but now Zachary Ard from ASCO sells them as I dont have the time to give my full attention. Welcome to the Acadiana Sports Car Orphanage! | Acadiana Sports Car Orphanage - Official Store Send him a message and he will be able to provide you a set of rear adapters.

It got a little sticky.

Cleaning up that mess took a week.

Pulled the motor out and dropped the crank.

Stayed busy while parts shipped.

Finished motor. Nissan main and rod bearings. Crank polished on the loose side of OEM spec. Ported turbo automatic oil pump with competition oil pan and updated sump tube with gasket. Top end was not broken down so new rings (also on loose side), HG, rebuilt turbo, etc still in play.*$12 paint job complete.*

Motor smoked from exhaust at idle. Ran out of time so on the trailer it went.

Last day in the Marines came. Started packing.

Last night in NC.

Made it home. Took over the garage.

Prepping for Nov 5 drift day.

Removed turbo, replaced hot side oil seal. Changed oil. First start up was using Brad Penn 20-50. Now it's Valvoline VR1 20-50. Stopped smoking at idle but still pours under load. Changed plugs (NGK 4644 .025-028 gap) but no change. The motor sat upside down on the engine stand for weeks. Maybe there's built up oil residue, figure I'll just drive it and see if the smoke fades. Idles and runs perfect other than smoking under load.

Started driving. Made several short 2nd and 3rd gear pulls. Ran perfect while riding the edge of straight line traction.

Did a hard pull in 4th, boost was about 12-13 pounds, AF was 10-11, shifted to 5th and the car just felt instantly sandbagged. Massive misfire, wouldn't idle at stop lights. As it almost stalled oil pressure dropped. Smoked non stop. Limped home, oil sprayed everywhere from driver side valve cover vent but nothing from the other side.

Smokes from both vents but much more from drivers side. Pulled plugs, #2&6 slight oil residue, #4 complete coated in oil and gap was non existent. Cleaned, regapped all 6, ran for a minute, runs the same, pulled plugs again, same oil on 4. *gap is ok though.

So here it sits

It was a good day. Besides the whole not getting to ride in the super legit Z31 drift car thing.

It's rattle canned again, this time it's $0.99 cans of Valspar gloss black from Lowe's.

Yes I've considered engine swaps but I really want this car to remain a modified Z31 and not a hybrid. Eventually I'll pick up an S-chassis and bastardize that lol.

I bought a cheap generic drop vent off ebay

then I cut it down the middle to make it more narrow and trimmed off all of the extra material around the edges

Version Select makes a universal one. Touge Factory carries them

version:SELECT Universal Hood Vent - FRP - TF Works - Real Racing Parts

The issue with the z31 is the cowl section of the hoods. In order to add vents, they need to be narrowed in order to fit in the cowl section.
