grinding in transmission PLEASE HELP!!!
ok i recently did a ka24e to a ka24de swap on my 90 240sx hatch and motor is fine but i hear a grinding of the throwout bearing in my tranny when i have my foot off of the clutch. When i push it in the grinding stops. I greased everything and made sure i put it together right. i even pushed the fork in where the slave cylinder goes to check for clearance and it had clearance. I have no idea what it could be. Please help!!

Front inout shaft bearing. With the car in neutral, foot off the pedal the noise is there. When the clutch is depressed, the noise goes away. The input shaft is spinning when the clutch engaged. If it was your throw out bearing, it would happen when the clutch is engaged. Get a bearing kit or just the one and install new bearing in the tranny. I'm doing bearings and synchros in mine, I have what you're explaining and gear grinding. ><

when your foot is off the clutch the throw out bearing is not engaged.
throw out bearing is used when the clutch pedal is depressed. that pushes the throw out bearing against the pressure plate teeth which lifts the clutch disk off the flywheel. weird whirring noises heard at neutral with the your foot off the clutch / clutch engaged is probably the input shaft bearing, which is internal to the transmission. |

As I said. Its behind the front cover, you may be able to pull the bearing off without opening the tranny, just removing the cover.
