Wow I'm really excited for this. I am down to help make this happen. Gives me a little time to get my car ready too. I'm pretty organized so if you need me for anything let me know too. I can help plan, and spread the event big time. Socal would be best for location hands down. I mean if you think about it, why is the final round for Formula D going to be in socal? And why was D1GP's final round in socal? Because socal is just the best spot to pick for events. Biggest crowds, most market support, huge local drift scenes throughout socal...etc.

Like Alex said, location will be announced after the planning group gets together and sets all locals and events up.
This isn't going to be up for discussion. Mostly, this thread is to kick off the planning and get a few productive members on board with planning and designing. Alex, Kevin said to ask you if you remember someone asking to borrow wheels for United Nations of Nissan Meet?

I'm in for this, seeing as i'll still have a S chassis in 2010 hopefully.
If you post stuff that needs to be done i'm sure I could take on one of the tasks or something. |

Yes -alex.
We had our short convo 1am Sunday morning about what it takes to make a great event and not just another meet. Epic events do take time, dedication, a pro-active team, money etc... That is why we will milk you for all the wealth of knowledge and experience you may have to offer us OB1. I agree times have changed the current subcultures of the 240sx scene. The reality is that many of the "first gen enthusiasts" have also changed with a small percentage remaining true and active each and every day. Note on marketing. We not only need "forums/venues/mailing lists", we also need to successfully align the Subcultures of Today's 240sx Scene & Marketing strategy. We can discuss this during the meetings... As with anything in life, don't let time or people deter you or anyone else from dreams, wishes and goals. With that said, "2010 Convention" pm sent.

Lisa, I gave my ideas to Sam (jspec) and what I can deliver to help out.
There is lots of other details involved that would need to be worked out if another place was chosen. But for the most part, my staff of 50+ and I can deliver big HELP. He has my info and just let me know. House of Drift is another place that I also have connections for and can get at a real good price if not FREE. REAL TALK...... Don't bullshit with ideas or suggest things you can not deliver. Please, I woul like to see this happen. Some people claim that olds school this and new kids that...... it does not matter! The game has not changed, just different people and the love for the 240sx is still here. So don't waste your time posting on anything that will not help deliver this event. Ernie

this may sound a little bit crazy, but there should be two events. kinda like east and west.
like the east one somewhere in Va. and the West one in Las Vegas. I would say California, but it might not be fair to the west of the mississippi people. i think lv, would be more fair to az, utah, navada, idaho and so forth. plus its vegas!!!!! I dont know if that is possible but it makes sense to me. and I have lived all over CALIFORNIA, n. s, and central. And So Cal is definitely the place to be. there is a 240 meet almost every day of the week. |

My 2 cents: I am from nor cal and love it till the day i die but in all fairness I bow to the south just due to sheer volume of scene affiliated people down there, I may have my opinions about our differences but they are the originators of pretty much the entire sport compact scene as a whole.
That said I vote for vegas HAHA I would be more than willing to make the drive and Im sure pleanty of people from all over the states would since ITS VEGAS!!! Ive been in the game since 98" but I cant name drop because Ive always been doing my own thing, didnt even sign up for zilvia till 4 months after Lisa and Im still a leaky injector, lol. But I love the scene and most of the people in it, Im just tired of seeing events like this get pushed aside because people cant get over their egos. Can we please all work together for once (in recent memory) and make this happen? Ill do whatever I can......

The location will most likely be socal. Why? simple. Vendors, sponsors and the general amount of people in the area. It is easier for vendors to travel 50 miles, than 500+

This is a brilliant idea!
Lotta good ideas here: http://zilvia.net/f/premium-members/...=national+meet http://zilvia.net/f/premium-members/...=national+meet I'm assuming it's going to be in CA? If I was local I'd volunteer.

I'd say vegas just because I think you could get alot more people from different parts of the country, but SoCal isn't bad either. Vegas mainly because it's 5 hours from LA, 5 hours from Phoenix and they have a decent scene themselves and it would probably be easier to get folks from the midwest and texas out there too. But in all reality somewhere in SoCal would probably be the best choice. Just my .02

As soon as a few more details are figured out, then it will be posted across as many 240 boards as possible...Nico, FA, 240sx.org All of them. Quote:
Vegas is nice, but, also extremely hot. Hell, the meet this past weekend was hot and it is no where near the temps that Vegas can reach.

Rotaries have had this 11 years straight now with SevenStock.
We need one for the Nissans. Make this happen.

I see your point, and love conventions, but just because it's not in a certain area doesn't mean it won't get vender and or sponsor support. Heck Aquamist and Whiteline donated stuff to the 06 Convention...and they're from the UK and Australia)

SERCA has been since 2001 IIRC. The biggest issue is keeping the community together. Luckily for the SE-R guys there were a good group of OG's mixed in with the new guys.

Sadly this will most likely be the last year for a SERCA convention due to the lack of interest. Our next one is in less than 2 weeks at vegas and less than 20 people signed up for the track event, and less than 40 for the car show. It's really sad.

Hm this sounds interesting, I would love to help plan this out. I would be down for researching and figuring out the sub cultures of the 240. Marketing is one of my majors.
How would these meetings work? I mean 8pm cali time is 12 am here.

YOu're being very optimistic with that. To much drama from last year didn't help this year. We played a very proactive role in the local ones to us, in getting local people (non forum folk) and the sort. I'm not sure the same happened this year I love George and Leslie, but this may be our last...unless somehow Calum can generate a good south meet again.
