UPDATE

SINCE I BOUGHT A GENUINE OEM GASKET SET I RECIEVED NEW INJECTOR O-RINGS SO I DECIDED TO INSTALL THEM



OLD VS NEW



I ALSO INSTALLED NEW CAM SEALS, A NEW PILOT BEARING, AN NEW FRONT & REAR MAIN SEALS AS WELL

NEW PILOT BEARING


MAACO TOOLS ARE THE SHIT!
IT WORKED PERFECT TO REMOVE THE PILOT BEARING (ALSO THE ORANGE BEARING IS THE NEW ONE JUST FORGOT TO TAKE A PIC OF REMOVING THE OLD ONE)







ALSO CLEANED & SANDED THE CAM SEAL SEATS



OLD VS NEW


INSTALLED!





FRONT MAIN WAS BEHIND THAT SPROCKET



ALSO CLEANED UP THE REAR CAM GEAR COVER & PAINTED THE TENSIONER SINCE THEY WERE WAS OFF



AFTER ALL THE NEW SEALS & BEARING WERE FINISHED I INSTALLED MY NEW BANDO TIMING BELT, DRIFTMOTION V.2 PULLEY SET & NEW PULLEY BELT







I ALSO MADE A BLOCK OFF PLATE FOR MY STOCK BOV SINCE I WONT BE USING IT & THE COMPANY I WAS GOING TO BUY IT FROM STOP MAKING THEM?

I PICKED UP A FLAT PIECE OF STEEL ABOUT A 1/4 THICK FROM LOWE'S & CUT IT UP TO THE SHAPE OUT OF THE OUTLET..ITS SORTA A "PROTOTYPE" SO WILL SEE IF IT LEAKS OR NOT?









SO WILL SEE HOW THAT GOES & THE BOV THAT I AM GOING TO GO WITH IS A OLD SCHOOL BLITZ SUPER SOUND, MY BUDDY HAD ONE ON HIS MR2 & IT SOUND GOOD SO I FOUND ONE HERE ON ZILVIA FOR A GOOD DEAL




I ALSO CHANGED THE GASKET BETWEEN THE BLITZ BOV & FLANGE WITH A NEW DIF GASKET

UPDATE

Ok well I finally got around to mating the the 1J to the R154

So I already had the USDM Supra R154 & JDM JZ Bellhousing so all I needed was a Clutch Kit

Well browing through supraforums.com I found a USED "Discontinued" TRD 1JZ Lightweight Flywheel (which is 24% Lighter than stock) for a awesome deal & the guy also happen to have a USED TRD 1JZ Pressure Plate which is Basically a Stage 3 PP too so I just bought both

I also took a trip to Driftmotion & bought a BNIB ACT Xtreme 6-Puck Stage 3 Clutch disc, BNIB ARP Flywheel bolts, NEW PP Bolts, NEW Bellhousing to Engine Bolts, BNIB Aisin Slave Cylinder, OEM BNIB Throw Out Bearing & NEW Clips & Retainers for Clutch Hub


& then the fun began!

























Was happy with the outcome. The only problem I had that I came across was with the R154 you have to first put the Clutch on the tranny first & tighten everything through the Inspection Covers not install it onto the engine first Like Nissan Tranny's....& also all the bolts were toque'd down to OE Specs

Why can't you install the pressure plate the normal way? I installed my 1jz pressure plate like I would a Nissan. I think Toyota did that to service the clutch easier in the supra. There is no need for an alignment tool if you install it like a torque converter on an auto car. My SPEC clutch kit came with an alignment tool which puzzled me until I tried installing the clutch like normal.

The only thing I had to remove, to pull off the tranny, was the clutch fork and slave cylinder. That bracket that holds the fork in place doesn't have to be removed either since the fork just pops out of the bracket; after the slave cylinder is removed.

Yeah that was the first way my buddy & I tried, but it was happening lol So we asked my buddy's Dad whos been a Toyota Tech. for like 20 years & he told us to install the clutch kit onto the Tranny first then install it. It wasnt to bad actually since the engine is out

SMALL UPDATE


Well I been busy on finishing up my Wheel Tubs & finishing my Fuse/Relay Box Relocation, but in between then I have picked up a few parts


I picked up this Tomei Trax 2 Way Diff off Dreezed here on Zilvia....Still need 5 Bolt Axles so PM if you have a Pair for sale





Also bought a RHD S13 Throttle Cable because it is shorter then the USDM one since the 1JZ Intake Manifold is on the Left side. Still need to make a bracket for it, but will get back to it in a Future Post



I was missing the front engine hook on my 1J so I bought one on the supraforums. When I recieved it it was dull & faded so I bought some VHT Black Wrinkle spray paint at Auto Zone to test it out & see how good it was...






They didnt come out to bad actually, So I will definitely continue to use it

Took a drive out to FRsport & picked up a DIF Steering Bushing, hope I feel a difference



Lastly I ordered my trailer fender for my wheel tubs! Was pretty happy for this!

I really dont know why I can just tell you from what I experienced. I first installed my Flywheel, then aligned clutch then installed the Pressure plate & tried slapping the tranny on & it didnt budge? So my buddys dad which is a Toyota Tech said put the Clutch Kit on the actual tranny first then slide it into the engine & torque down the Pressure Plate through the Inspection Cover & which I did & WAA-LA!

But the next main things on my list is
-Finish Tubs
-Paint Engine Bay
-Buy Actual Motor/Tranny Mounts
-Get custom XRP Fuel Lines
-Buy a Clutch Line
-Buy Radiator/Fan set up
-Get a few new connectors for Harness (few of them cracked)

& Ill be in good shape

Neat Built, I like watching other 1J's go together.

Two things:

-Your BOV blockoff plate should work just fine. That port only ever sees vacuum, so it doesn't need that crazy of a seal.

-Did you really need a new throttle cable? I'm using my stock SOHC KA one - all I needed to do to make it work was move the throttle cable bracket back by one bolt... It is a hair long, but nothing unreasonable.

On just the engine swap alone, including Engine, Tranny, Swap Parts, ETC. NO Aero, Interior or Suspension about 3.5-4K, but I had alot of misc stuff mising so having to track it down & buying it added up

Thanks guy, with the BOV I just put seal to be on the Safe Side & I used a RHD Cable because my DOHC cable was long as fuck, & I found a dude selling the RHD one for cheap & I wanted to test it out

Need some input on what damn color I should paint my engine bay??? It's driving me crazy!!

Im undecided if I should stay with the OE Misty Blue Metallic or something different? White or Black or another color that mathces my OE Color? Hard Decisions haha

This Pic was a few months ago before I rattle canned it black to see how "good it would look

Don't do it black, I find that alot of stuff get's "lost" in a black engine bay. I love a white or silver engine bay as alot of the colors pop. But i stay go OEM.

Yeah that's true about Black. I actually wanted to do Black with maybe some Silver flake because my car almost looks like silver & I like White it will definitly POP, but would have to be cleaned more often. With Silver I feel like it will look like I was trying to match it with my OE Color but didn't quite get it, but I guess Misty Blue Metallic it is! I just don't know how much paint to get for a Engine Bay?

UPDATE

So I got a few thing done nothing major & have picked a few goods

I finally installed my DIF bushing, it gave more trouble then I assumed lol but I got it! My old bushing wasnt in to bad of shape but im glad i changed it for a solid one










Also started messing around with my LEDS for Tailights. The first section came out a little bit to tall to fit into the tailights but atleast I got a feel for it








Since im going to be running a KA/RB Radiator I needed to cut my waterneck So I could run a smaller Radiator hose, instead of running a long hose along my cams with a Supra or SR Radiator which I think looks kind of dumb







Some might call this Ghetto or Creative but hey what can I say I make things works lol

I bought this Front Sump Dipstick off a member here & its off a JZX100 VVTI because mine was from a Rear sump & wont read correctly & there pretty hard to track down but its from Front Sump so thats all that matters. The only problem is that the handle was broken off so decided to make one from a key ring








I then sprayed it black til I get some yellow paint


Also cleaned my Bride seat. Its a Bride Zeta III SPORT (Non-FIA Approved) that why it has a BLACK back & not a SPARKLY back. Its more of a Street Seat

All this stuff shows that its the real deal

dayum man, lots of progress, lets see them tail lights when theyre all finished whats the total cost on parts for them? If it's cheaper than 400 bucks I'd consider doing them myself.
