Just another s13 with a v8
I figured i would finally make a build thread. I know i know.. Its just another s13 with a ls1 in it.. Alot of people hate on it but oh well, I like it. I previously owned a rx-7 Fd with a ls1 and loved it! But i like to drift and i couldnt get my self to potentially beat up a FD. I also didnt do the swap myself and i didnt like that. So i sold it, and started building a s13. I searched for a relitively clean coupe and finally got one. It need paint but other then that it was fairly straight.
Here it is after i drove it home. I dont have a garage either so I decided i would just do it on a gravel driveway instead of trying to use a friends garage, because then i wouldnt beable to work on it as much. After i got the car home I put it on jack stands and started pulling it apart. After i got the engine and everything out i loaded it up and sold all the parts to a friend, I also had been doing some research on what swap kit i was going to buy and finding a good motor/tranny to pick up. I finally decided to with daft innovations swap kit. I know i heard about the customer service being really bad, but he seemed alright before i paid. After i paid things seem to go down hill, he wouldnt answer my call or provide me with a tracking number. FINALLY after a week i got a tracking number and he still to this day has ignored me! I did recieve everything and it all looked great! but customer service sucked after i paid. Then i finally picked up a motor. Its a ls1 that came out of a 99 camaro with 44k original miles, and i found a rebuilt t56 also. Now i was going to keep this motor stock, but i came across a great deal on some parts and decided to just build it! I picked up some trick flow 220 heads, vengeance racing vrx5 cam, fast 102 intake, fast fuel rails, morel lifters, custom rockers, trick flow pushrods, spring kit, texas drivetrain performance stage 3 clutch and light weight flywheel Then I had a friend help me put it together. I also ended up getting a ls2 timing chain, arp head studs and arp crank bolt. I also painted the engine bay lime green. Yes LIME GREEN. Then it was time to get the engine in. Had to pull the engine in and out serval times as i didnt beat the firewall in enough even though i beat the crap out of it! I got the headers ceramic coated on the outside and piston coated on the inside! At this time most of everything is installed except for a few things. I sent my wiring to jordan innovations, ive heard there work is great! I got some tein drift he coilovers for cheap and got them installed! Ordered a Isis radiator and fan/shroud kit I went to advance auto parts and matched up some radiator hoses that i thought would work, and i got the heater hoses done! which one was a pain since the head is in the way! I used 2 pre bent 90's. To get the one on behind the head i had to use a heat gun on the hose! I recently just picked up some fuel line and fittings for my fast fuel rails, also picking up some 42lb injectors. My friend picked my car up last week and were going to fabricate the exhaust for it! As for looks im running the square g6 wheels for the street and a couple sets of xxr for drift events, and picking up a instane gentleman bumper tomorrow. Hope to find some sides a rear bumper soon. As of now Im still waiting on my wiring from jordan innovations, and i just ordered my fast 90 throttle body, injector o rings, iat sensor, oil pressure gauge and my water temp adapter for the stock sensor. Hope to have it running by christmas! |

You can paint the engine bay good with the motor in. There's only certain things I have to touch up plus since I was in a gravel driveway the hoist didn't roll well with the Plywood.

Did a little work on the car.. Got the steering shaft back on after noticing the shaft was hitting the header so i had to dent it so it would go on.
Also put the msd started on. Also picked up a instant gentleman front bumper. Here is a test fit. |

Well i recieved some parts and got a few more things done.
I recieved my fast 92mm throttle body and what do you know it doesnt fit right. It was hitting the water pump so i had to grind the throttle body down quite a bit which sucked but oh well, then for the throttle cable to work i had to cut a part out and make new holes on the bracket so the cable would work. Also recieved a oil pressure gauge and got it hooked up. I also got some green top ford racing 42lb injectors and my fuel line ran. This is how it sits for now. Mainly just waiting on my wiring to get here! |

Thanks guys! I recieved my harness and everything from Jeff and Jordan innovations an everything was perfect! I got the car running and a decent tune for now. Car runs really good!
I actually just got off the phone with Jeff and I think I'm going to go with accusump. I also wish I upgraded my rod bolts before but never heard anything untill now. So my plans are to change the rod bolts soon. The car is currently in a lot of pieces because it's getting painted at the moment. I'm actually helping with all of it and learning so I can paint another car later on. It's going to be a gloss white. I'll upload pictures and take a few videos next week. The car sounds amazing! |

Well it's been a while since if posted! I've done one drift event and did very well for the first event, I also borrowed my friends radials and put stock suspension on the rear for the drag strip, I ran a 7.82 at 94. That was my first run the car has more in it and I'm supprise the stock welded rear end didn't break! I also picked up a few sponsors for this drift season. Also rerouted the intake into the front bumper cause my intake temps were way to high! I'll post some pics and videos tomorrow of the car!

Sounds great, and so glad you're getting out and having fun with the car!
Lots of LS guys run no MAF, speed density runs really well.
