8into1 is the way to go! A few of my buddy's built 8into1 exhaust on their 1400 truck that runs a 418ci LS based motor and it sounds awesome.

Blehh pic - but the ignition coils are going there (fire wall). No REAL reason the mount/move them there. Something that came to mind and thoughts it'll be neat!

Looks cool man! Most people just move the ignition coils to sit on top of the valve cover.

That's where they are on a stock engine. The OHV design means you can't put the spark plug dead center, so the plugs are on the side. This also means you can't put coil-on plug. So GM did coil-near-plug. The further away the plugs, the less efficient the spark. Last edited by Corbic; 02-24-2016 at 04:49 AM.. |

Did some work to the never ending project. Tackled the fuel today and got it 99% finished. Got some line securing underneath to do and install another fuel filter mount bracket.

Couple weeks ago I finished the making of the spark plug wires. MSD offered a pretty nice DIY kit. Got the job done nicely.
Got a nice call from Stainless Headers and ending up placing my header material order! Very excited to get the tubing in and start fabricating! Next, i'll RE doing where the coolant reservoir and oil filter housing is to make room for the header (5th time doing this lol). In the mix of all this, im getting my lead harness from MegaSquirt and placing my wiring order too. Excited Excited. I hope i'll make it to racing event Gingerman (in South Haven, MI) for the even in July. If anyone was curious lol, a RPF1 18x9.5 +15 clears a Evo 8 Brembo w/o a spacer. As the Cosmis XT006r's, 18x9.5 +10. I have to run a 25MM spacer.

Hmm, thats good to know on the msd diy kit. Do you know of any drawbacks to the spark plug wires bring that long in length, do all the wires have to be the exact same length?

Googled a 2500HP 676CI engine, his spark plug wires are rather long and makes some serious jam. And regardless, I MIGHT brake 400HP on my set up... on a good day.

My bad, I decided to stay NA for now. Really want to learn to drive this before I double to HP when it's turbochargered. We'll see though.

8 into 1 is amazing. Such sound. Are you going to put it in the same area as Ross Petty's S15? Honestly I can't see an 8-1 setup fitting anywhere else haha. Might as well copy his setup, or at least use the pictures of it for reference.

Damnit you got your piping before me! We will have to compare designs once complete. Are you using any modeling software or the kit to configure the runners? I've looked into the ice engine works kit but the cost has me on the fence.

No modeling software. Luckily I have some extra pair of hands that are a little more experienced than me to help with this.

OOhh i cant wait, this gone be gud. Also the s15 shots, it looks like they just placed the collector where the stock cat goes in the hump that is already there. Although in that placement the primaries must be quite long, must make for a very low end torquey power band.
Offthewall. Have you measured for primary lengths and have a length goal in mind? also are you making them all equal length?

Good, hate to see you put in all that hard work then the length is way off from your desired powerband. Cant wait to hear this thing. Its going to fire up WAY before mine haha

To an extent yeah, but you dont want peak tq way down low like say 3-3500 rpm. the length of the primaries on the s15 mentioned were extremely long. Longer the primaires the lower the peak tq will be. Granted thats a general statement ignoring other variables such as primary diamter, engine size, max rpm etc. Regardless primary length is the biggest factor in tq production in a certain area in the powerband.
