Hm with Toyota/Subaru and Hyundai getting into the affordable turbo, RWD market, I think it is hard for Nissan to just up and say forget it. Things like this is why I think that SX cancellation rumor, is just a rumor and not a fact.
Exit what you thinking on this?

And confirmation from Toyota is very very good news for all of us. I'm glad to see they are still on board and looking our way.

Hyundai has already went all in and shown their hand which leaves plenty of time for Nissan, and Tobaru to meet and exceed the standards of the Genesis. Nissan and Tobaru are still waiting to see what the other has, which will hopefully make them make cars that try to outdo each others and crush the Genesis. So by 2013 (random year don't hold anything to it) we should have three RWD cars to choose from. One from Nissan, One from Tobaru, and a third iteration of the Genesis. Yes this is indeed good news for all of us.

I wish something could be leaked finally. If this is going to happen then I'll wait to pick up a daily. If not tho, I'm probably gonna grab an S13 or Z31 cuz they are cheap.

I would think so. OR is the RX9 going to go that route and the RX7 to compete with the Genesis, SX, and Tobaru? Hmmmmm.

Edit: I checked and the RX-8 starts from 27K for the base model, up to 32K for the high end one. So yea it will definitely be competing with the 370Z and not the SX

RX-7 will be a 2 seater, RX-9 will be a 4 seater, possibly one of the 4 door coupes that are all the rage now. I wouldn't expect pricing to be too much different between the 2 with the RX-7 probably being higher as a "halo" sports car.

Detroit Free Press is saying they have confirmed that the Toybaru is on hold indefinitely.
The sporty compact car Subaru and Toyota were developing together has been put on hold because of the worldwide economic slowdown, both companies confirm. The program had been developing a pair of sporty small cars for sale by both automakers in 2011. The companies' other high-profile collaboration, the assembly of Toyota Camrys in Subaru's Lafayette, Ind., plant, remains intact. Toyota took a small stake in Subaru when GM ended its relationship with the all-wheel drive specialist in 2005. The 2+2 compact sporty car had been slated to use a version of the Subaru Impreza's platform, horizontally opposed boxer engine and transmission. It reportedly modified Subaru's all-wheel drive drivetrain to a rear-drive setup and moved the engine slightly rearward in the chassis to improve weight distribution. The car would have filled one of the few obvious gaps in Toyota's lineup, a small and affordable sporty car. It would also have given Subaru a performance model priced below the $24,995 all-wheel drive Impreza WRX. The Toyota and Subaru models reportedly had different exterior designs. By Mark Phelan
