off topic, but my friend Josh bought an Apex AVC-R through a group deal from titan motorsports for $399 (shipped) a year ago. finally, we found a shop in the St. Louis area (ok, so we had to travel almost an hour to Belleville, Illinois) that is able to install a boost controller.
we started it up and it ran like shit for 3 minutes and the installer didn't look too happy after putting everything together. turns out the ECU just needed to re-adjust itself. then today we tested the boost controller. first we turned the boost down from 9 psi to 7 psi to see what it would be like. then we turned it up to about .85 bar, then .95 bar to 1 bar, around 14 psi. wow! it pulls much harder above 6500 all the way to 7200 rpm. we didn't want to boost it much higher until Josh buys larger injectors this spring i don't know exactly how much horsepower it has, of course, but were thinking around 400 horsepower at the flywheel, comparing it to other Z's with the same upgrades. Josh's mods are air filter, high flow cats, borla exhaust, lightweight flywheel, 6 puck ACT clutch, ECU reprogram, HKS side mount intercoolers, boost controller, lowering springs, KYB AGX's, and turbo timer. http://300zx.whateverjames.com

How did you turn it 'down' to 7psi. You cant go below what the waste gate is set for. 2. The ECU does not need to adjust to the AVC-R 3. I'm very doubtful that its making 400 hp at the flywheel. 14psi isnt all that high. Not flaming, just clarifying.

the 300zx's wastegate is set for 7psi. with the stock boost jets it was at 9psi. the stock boost jets were left in there so we had to actually make a setting for 7psi, we tested it out and it didn't even hit stock boost. but it did hit .5 bar. by turning the boost controller setting to off, it returns to 9psi.
i was saying the ECU it adjusted itself since the battery was disconnected (forgot to add the part about the battery being disconnected). and that just a guess as to why it was running like poo. 400 does seem high. but at a nissan meet in kansas city, i witnessed two Z's in a row with three mods (air filter, exhaust, ECU w/boost jets) both made 325hp and 383tq at the wheels (385hp at the flywheel) with 14 psi. add josh's larger intercoolers and high flow cats and that's almost/at/or beyond 400 horsepower at the flywheel. again, it's just a guess, comparing to other Z's, not just the two we saw on the dyno. we're trying to find a dyno around our area too see if everythings ok :\ thank you saying you weren't flaming.

Might have something to do with the car running like crap at first. I'd run an ECU diagnostic to see what the ECU thinks is going on. I thought about it a bit more. It is possible to hit 400 at the flywheel with his mods. But not much more. I would take those boost jets out. They will affect the boost that you're running. Also hope you guys are running a boost gauge of some sort. The stock gauge is less than accurate.
