I don't think they can put the front wheels any farther foward and the engine bay is already huge with the engine sitting at the back. I wonder how they are gona keep the 50/50 weight distro with these massive motors. Sounds awsome though...can't wait to see them!

We're not just 240sx enthusiasts. I say if it's about cars, it's on topic...maybe that just me though...

I see no problem with talking about some other cars sometimes. People in this chatroom have tremendous knowledge about most types of car....and I like to take advantage of that when possible. Besides, Ive been on this chat forum long enough..that Ive pretty much discussed every nut and bolt on the 240sx....so what else is there to talk about..besides waiting til my car breaks down? Would you rather talk about BMW's...or some forum member's speeding ticket (or other "non car" topics that seem to pop up lately)? Dunno....just playing devils advocate.

Woah, where'd that info come from?? I haven't been reading car magazines lately (spent all my money buying the 240, now I have to ration what's left) ...

That's insanity though. I suppose, though, that the M3s 6 cylinder has pretty much been tuned to as close to perfect as possible.

the weight of the 4.0 v8 is actually lighter than the m3's current motor, the things that are heavier are the motor mounts, radiator, etc etc. there is no CONFIRMED news that the m3 is getting the v8 although its pretty much assumed for fact that the m5 is getting a v10. either way the cars will also be heavier so i don't see how much faster they're going to get.

Nobody's going to make a sweet sexy inline 6 by the time I can afford one. The current M3 might get a V8 to meet homologation requirements.

the M3 will get a V8 eventually, but i'm guessing it will be an option, kinda like you have a choice of i6 or v8 in a 4 series

BMW isn't stupid, they know that the I6 is vital to their success. hopefully most of you have seen the new 3 series compact coming this fall maybe? rumor has it an M version of the compact is already in the works. that might receive the current M3 powerplant. also, i think i heard of a new M1, but that could very well be a lie. basically, many of the new changes are happening because of their involvement with motorsports. they really do need to put a derivative of the F1 engine in something. also, i think ALMS told them they couldn't use the V8 in the GT car anymore because it wasn't production. BMW's answer, ok fine, we will offer it in somthing then. i think right now they're just playing around with configurations and probing the public for reactions.

long live BMW.......the ultimate driving machine.

luey02, have you never driven a bimmer? ... if not, I highly recommend driving to believe! Those things are pretty sweet. I haven't, though, had the pleasure of "borrowing" anyone's M3 yet though... takers, anyone?

Seriously though, my dream car is still an M Coupe. Call it what vile names you can come up with (the best I've heard so far is "...it looks like a fucking shoe!" haha...) but it's still a beautiful car.

(fine print: The ///MCoupe' is my dreamcar only after I get a 20B FD3S)

finally, a topic i can respond to.

bmw enthusiasts screamed for the v8 in the e46 m3. the "new" motor, the S54 B32, is basically the euro spec 321 hp motor available in the E36 M3. it may be a big deal for US people, but to everyone else, its an old motor.

the m3 didnt get a v8 this time around cause execs feared it would eat into m5 sales. a 4 door m3 wont be around either until m5 production ends.

the reason bmw is pissed about the ruling handed out by the ACO is that Saleen delayed production of the S7 for nearly 2 yrs, yet he gets to race his car still. porsche just whined their asses off cause they were losing (4 yrs ago, porsche swept the floor with the GT3. now that they are on the losing end, they wanted to get even)

s14axlr8- i envy u

adey- the M Coupe may look like Darth Vader's red headed step child, but it is arguably one of the best handling bmw's built to date. its a total drivers car.

the new m5 motor hasnt been confirmed, but reports say it will be a 4.5L v10 sourced from Williams and will only have SMG (Booo)

if u all wanna know who is to blame for the crappy direction that bmw is headed for, click down there.

I've not had the opportunity to drive one of those things, but one of these days... one of these days.

So who in here owns a BMW? is it your primary driver or secondary?

i dont think the M coupe is the greatest piece of eye candy. i just love the baddass factor of the car. long hood, virtually no rear deck. bigass widebody fenders. and the quad exhausts available on the newer S54 equipped cars. mmmmm..

i think the new 7 series is pretty revolutionary. it definatley is a step forward in technology, and it carries a BMW badge so it wont fail in any market.

I used to do detailing at BMW/lexus/acura

i only worked there ofr 2 weeks, i got in trouble for taking out a 328is after the bosses left and booting around the parking lot in it. the manager inside BMW saw me and complained, but they still didnt fire me, in fact they offerd me a $1 raise when i said i was leaving, i think he wanted my anal virginity.

Meowth, i thought meowthsdaddy was really your dad...

i love the ///M coupe, it's raw, i also love the 8 series.

My dad raised me on BMW, he has had several, but not lately since he had 4 kids, that'll do it. the only accident he was ever in was slamming his 70's 5 sereis into the back of a transport truck 15 years ago or more. he bought my mom a nice little 3 series when she had me, and had a 2002 in a garage for 10 years but never got around to restoring it before some kids vandalized it and he gave it to a friend.

he was gonna buy me a 86 325e, great shape but high miles when i forst got my license, a sweet 2 door coupe, it was sexy, but the guy sold it for less than our offer???

the first thing i do when i become a millionaire, come home in a brand spanking new M5, call my dad outside, "hey dad, lets go quit your job!!!" and then "here's your new car" and toss him the keys...

bmw rules

there was a guy i saw in a yearbook who's grad comment was simply...BMW the ultimate drivng machine

my favorite BMW is the one i always here negative comments on. i think it's the 7 series. i love the color, i love the look, the wheels, the trunk doesn't bother me, and i love all the electronics. i don't love the price.

I like the exterior of BMWs... but I never was feeling the interior... too cluttered... I love simplicity. Gotta love the SMG gearbox though.

lol. yup. that's the BMW i love. i don't know, i guess if i were a BMW fan, i would hate it, but i'm not, so i don't know if that style took a turn for the worse or for the better, and i don't care 'cause i like it! i guess it would be like a honda fan getting interested in the New Z, but never paid much attention to the old Z's. (not to say the new Z is bad, i like it)
