Battery Relocation
Well I just purchased my first 240 today, yay!! But had a quick question about the location of the battery.
The interior has been stripped so the contents of my trunk are fully visible. The previous owner didn't make it to the trunk with the battery relocation and decided to mount it behind the passenger seat. Its bolted down and there is a cover over the leads. I heard somewhere that batteries are always releasing some gas/vapor that you shouldn't be breathing, is this true and should I move the battery back? SOMEONE HELP ME SLEEP AT NIGHT! Dry cells are sealed. Standard lead-acid batteries can spill or whatever, but don't worry about it - as long as it's bolted down and the +12V lead is covered, you're good.

Leaky Injector
|
The wet cell batteries do release harmful gases, put it in a sealed box (with a vent tube outside the car), or get a dry cell battery. The dry cell batteries are sealed but they do release a tiny bit of gas, but not enough to harm anyone. They also won't leak acid or explode on you!
Dry Cell batteries: Optima, Odyssey, Westco, etc. |

put it in a vented sealed box or move it back to the engine bay. make sure there's a metal tie down.
there's nothing particularly wrong with putting it somewhere near or in the cabin instead of the trunk, as long as you're not going to catch battery or acid to the back of your head. when you locate weight more centrally in the car, you improve the car's polar moment of inertia. |

Just get a dry cell/optima battery in there. if not get a fully sealed box like zerolift has for sale. they do have vent tubes that run to the outside of the car.

this is a little off topic, but those shuriken batteries have amazing stats compared to optimas, are they like amazing, or is it just hype?

Go dry cell and leave it alone no sense in making urself do more work than needed. But if it truly annoys you that much than you know what relocated it to the rear, make sure to put it oposite the side of your fuel tank for better weight distrubtion
Ka build just got me a t57 turbo looking for a down pip and intake manifold Going with ebay 3" intercooler hks ssqv blow out valve may get a small 38mm waste gate valve for now |
