[NorCal 240SX Discussions] Vol.05
aite kiddies, a new thread is in order. I guess this thread will be for the up coming meet and drift event here in Nor Cal. So any ideas for a meet? Other than just standing in a parkinglot? not that i don't like it, but we got to change it around a bit... I am finaly going to have my 240 ready to drive to a meet rather than taking my mom's car all the time. Post up ideas for the next meet and another location.

for starters, someplace where you don't have to pay to get in. that was kinda ghey last time. not meaning to insult whoever picked that spot, but i didn't even know i was gonna have to pay until i pulled in.

It's been a rough month so far, I've known of 4 240's crashing, at least 1 totaled, and I dunno . Myself, I'm holding off until DD6, and of course the afterparty . I have to drive at least 100miles to and from a meet.

I picked the location. Nobody knew about the $5 fee and I bet there wouldn't have been that fee if there wasn't that huge festival going on. I even asked the guy taking in money for a group rate, since we have so many cars, but he said there is no group rate. Yes it was ghey. >:(
About these NorCal threads. Yah the previous thread kind of died down, and it seemed like there were some problems with it also (cuz some people's posts weren't showing up). But if everything is working, I think from now on we should start a new thread when a new meet has been planned. That way, the first post of the thread would have info on the new meet, and people won't have to go to page whatever to find out about the meet. After the meet is over, people can give their thoughts about the meet and give suggestions or ideas for the next one in the same thread. Once the new meet is planned, start a new thread to publicize it. But in any case, I encourage everyone who's interested in these meets to join the NorCal 240SX Mailing List. Over 80 people are signed up for it so this is the best way to reach out to other 240SX owners in NorCal, and you don't have to go to any forums to find out about the next meet. Go to http://www.norcal240sx.org and click on the Membership link for more info. |

We should most definitely have a meet at DD6. The question is: should we have one more meet in between now and DD6? I personally think it would have to happen too soon (to keep the meets evenly spaced apart). It would need to be at the very end of this month or beginning of next month. I think that's a little too frequent to have 30-40 cars show up. Maybe we should just start planning for the DD6 meet, even though there's not much info on DD6 yet :P other than that it'll be in SAN FRANCISCO! Woohoo!
In another thread, people are talking about bi-weekly meets. Could be interesting. |

here's another crashed 240
that180guy, the owner of the silver pignose with lots of body damage, drifted off a cliff in berkeley last friday night. he was in the hospital for two nights, but he's okay. his car is a mangled carcass. he found the flywheel on the ground nearby, to give you an idea how bad it was. |

2Fast2Furious?
Ya I know, its rice blahblahblah
But it has cars, and Skylines and stuff. Mebbe a mini-meet to go watch it? I ptched this in the last thread but no responses... Century 21 in DC would be good, since they have a big, free parking lot. Also we can represent since there are a lot of ricers in the area, plus there will finally be a meet in Norcal Norcal! :P Just a thought, late |

Nissan meet in San Francisco on May 31.
^ Might be worth checking out, for those of you wanting a meet before DD6. I probably won't go tho, cuz I'm pretty sure I'm busy that day. |

I'll bich here too. The following copied from norcal240sx mailing list.
Mini-vans suck. On Wednesday a mini-van driving next to me on the freeway switched into my lane and forced me to swerve aside to avoid collision. Unfortunately the car oversteered, fishtailed (open diff -_-;), and spun nose-first into the guardrail. Damaged this and that and that and that, and repairs could take three weeks or so. And of course since there was no contact with the mini-van (which of course didn't even stop), insurance said I was considered at fault, even though I have a witness and a police report stating otherwise. Waiting for Allstate to estimate the damage. Guy at the shop gave me a rough estimate of about $3000. We'll see how it goes. I hope the car will be repaired in time for DD6. =( |

I'm sooo disappointed that I won't be able to go to DD6. :..( *Sigh* Finally a drift event in the Bay Area and my car gets f*k'd. I think it'll still be in repair on July 5. Insurance FINALLY estimated the damage two days ago. About $7000 they say. O_o I'm really surprised they didn't total it.

Yeah, that sux about ur car! your insurance company is dope, they didn't total ur car!
anyways, for all of you who want to have a meet at DD6, you'd better show up early. like 7:00 am. They are going to let cars in until like 7:15 then they close it off and no body gets to go in. they are trying to make sure it doesn't get too crazy. I highly doubt any of you guys who aren't in the event are going to get up that early on a saturday to go show off ur car. Just letting everyone know. At DD5 there were people peering over the concrete barrier to try to watch. Oh yeah... i like the idea of a meet in Santa Cruz!

Time for another meet
Obviously, it would appear the next meet should be at DD6. Whirred. After that, I think the BBall meet would be good (KA vs SR would not be a good idea I don't think; at the last meet I think the people with KA motors easily outnumbered the SR crowd... and what about Iggy? He'd be the one-man team :P), S13 vs S14 would make more sense... or perhaps S13 Hatch vs S13 Coupe/S14 (since most of the cars were hatches IIRC).... I dunno, we'll figure it out. I nominate FRISCO cus we can probably rent out a spot at Golden Gate Park or somethin, have a BBQ and play ball... football would be easier, but I'm sure they have a BBall court somewhere. Somewhere up north this time tho, I am tired of going to the South Bay see yall at DD6 (if i fix my car... sniff sniff, i wanna run dammit) |

How about a meet in Sacramento? I was thinking we could all meet in Sac and drive to the Bay Area on Hwy 84. Or meet in the Bay Area and drive to Sac on 84. I've actually never done it before so I don't know how long it takes or if it's a good idea or not. I'll let you all know when I do. :)
