some1 with universal msd btm instructions, help.

The used btm I bought didn't come with instructions. Msd doesn't have them on their site and they haven't responded to my email from a few days ago.

What are the white and orange wires for on the four wire plug? I figured red was for 12v and black was ground but I'm not sure about the other two.

thanks

white and orange wires intercept and modify the trigger signal from the distributor. from your name i'm assuming you have an S14, in which case your distributor will require some internal modification (it's a pain in the ass to do but not THAT hard).

For wiring instructions refer to here:
Instructions for modifying internal coil distributors for use with MSD ignitions

DO NOT go color for color on that diagram when wiring the universal BTM in!!! I'll be able to verify the wiring later, but red goes to IGN+, black to chassis ground, and I'll have to figure out which is white and which is orange, but they intercept the modified trigger wire.

I'm DLing the JWT stuff now but I'm on dial-up for the week.

well, for internal coil cars, just follow the JWT MSD setup, but don't split the IGN+ wire. just tap the power off it. The orange wire should go to PIN 8 on the JWT diagram.... I think.... I can verify everything tomorrow when there's light outside, but right now it's dark and cold and my wiring is all wrapped up.

I think I get what your saying. Splice red to 7, white intercepts the signal, orange sends the modified signal to the coil, and black grounds to chassis.
