I've done as much research as possible. I have found a few answers, but not really what I am looking for. Is anyone running a water to air setup in their DD? I live in Texas, it is stupid hot out here and I'd rather not have a huge fmic blocking my a/c condensor and radiator. I would like to see some setups others are using and how effective they are.



Also, I would like to mention, I am running tubbed wheel wells so the side mount is out of the question. I have seen the PBM high mounts, but these look as if they cannot be mounted with an A/C condensor.

Have you looked at v-mount setups? Sorry, I don't know much about this subject.

^yes I did look into v-mounts. You would have to angle your radiator of some sort I believe. But the real question is, who has done water to air succesfully? I'm still looking for an answer, it looks like a much better set up (compared to fmic) now that siliconeintakes.com carries all the parts necessary to piece one together for under $400.

My friend did an air-to-water on his dodge (drag car). he seems to like it, but I doubt for a DD it would be overly effective. And seeing as you're in texas (im in AZ) that water is gonna get hot real quick.

in fact, he uses ice in there before a run. just a thought

I dont see why it wouldnt work for dding, if mustangs use it why wouldnt it? Are all of these standalone systems or are there some that work with the engine coolant? If income is not a problem then u should try it, just remember u'll still have to run an extra cooler (besides the ic).

A lot of OEMs use A/W setups, don't cheap out on pumps and you'll be fine. It will be expensive but I think it will work great for what you're looking to do.

have you already done an additive to the cooling system? I just added some Radiator Relief from DEI last weekend. It dropped the coolant temp 25°F coming out of the radiator on my S14. I am in Mississippi and it's also pretty hot here.

I see nothing wrong with doing a water-to-air set up CORRECTLY for DD. There is a guy in my area who has a 450-500 turbo'd VW with a water/air set up. He did it for boost response and the sleeper factor

Thanks for the replies. Actually, its pretty cheap as siliconeintakes.com has everything you need to build your own for the price of a decent fmic. In most kits you can use a small radiator with an electric fan to keep the water cool.

I'm intriuged by this. It's like running a water loop instead of a hsf on a computer.

It might just introduce another point of failure though!

I don't think it would be failure iIf using a well made kit, i am just trying to find somebody who is actually using a water/air setup. Everyone overlooks them because they are expensive. Now you can get all the parts at an affordable cost. Anyone?
