Auto to 5 speed swap. what random things did you need?
Hi,
I will be doing a 5 speed conversion on my auto in the coming few weeks (still in the gathering parts phase) and would like to know from people what random things did you need to run out to get? I ask because I just got my clutch kit in (exedy oem) and it did not come with the pressure plate bolts. My other two (aftermarket) kits did come with those bolts. So I'm wondering what else people have needed to get. For reference, here are the links I will be using to perform the swap: http://zilvia.net/f/tech-talk/387225...-progress.html How To: 5 Speed Swap in Convertibles (and other S13s) : 240SX Convertible Forum And here is my part list of "major" mechanical components. 5 speed swap list: -5 spd tranny -5 spd driveshaft -shift knob In engine bay: -clutch master cylinder -clutch slave cylinder -Clutch line ( conversion line from FR sport) Inside tranny: -Flywheel+resurface -Flywheel bolts -Exedy oem clutch kit Outside tranny: Engine to trans dust plate -5 spd tranny crossmember -5 spd drift freq tranny mount Inside cabin: -Rubber Trans Dust Cover -Rubber Trans boot & finisher ring Clutch pedal *Brake pedal $60 if you care, the parts with a dash next to them I have, and the brake pedal is optional (not sure if I want to just cut it to make the install go faster). Also I know I need tranny oil and its not on the list. I'm planning on running redline 75w-90 ( i think that's the weight, I use it in my datsun) Also if anyone knows, I would like to know the size of the pressure plate bolts so I could go get some before I start. |

Pilot bearing and throwout bearing are included in clutch kit, sorry for any confusion.
Fuck I will need a fork, totally forgot about that. For the bell housing bolts, I'm assuming just length is different, which I will need do when I'm test fitting the tranny. Local bolt store literally about a mile away from my house. |

If you have an S13 clutch pedal and an S13 car, all you have to do is drill the three holes (two bolt holes and the pass through hole) and mount the pedal to the car. I've done the swap multiple times, never had to do anything else.

Also, only use a GL-4 compatible gear oil for the transmission. You can use GL-5 for the diff, but not the transmission (unless it meets GL-4 as well... some meet both). I know a lot of Redline gear oil is GL-5 only, and it will eat away at your synchros.
