s14 First post in forum, need input.

Hello,

This is my first real post in the zilvia boards.

My goal with my current project is to create a mixed matched silvia/240sx that will be my daily driver as well as my weekend track car. I know what your thinking. WOW what a project.

But wait theres more. I want to use ONLY parts with true nissan part numbers or parts from Nismo, Nissans performance division, the car must appeare stock. I know still not very hard right? Well im taking it to a level of extreme fanatasism.

Here is what im looking at for a plan.

JDM exterior conversion *NEARLY COMPLETE*
KA-T motor *GATHERING PARTS NOW*
Z32 front and rear brakes *PARTS SOURCED*
Z32 VLSD Conv *PARTS SOURCED*
Sun roof install *GATHERING PARTS NOW*
JDM silvia interior conv *GATHERING PARTS NOW*
NISMO suspension *GATHERING PARTS NOW*

Now that you have an idea of what im trying to do lets see if you guys can help me anwser a few questions.

I want to install the JDM thermostate rim with buisness card holder but I have read that they dont work in the 98 s14 usdm chassis? Is this true? Is there no way to move the card holder so it fits? Iv heard you can put a dent in the crash bar under the dash but to me that isnt even an option. Any help is appreciated.

I recently bought JDM fog lights for my bumper and now im trying to fgure out a clean install. I am searching for a usdm or jdm turn signal arm wtih fog light controls. If I find this part is it plug and play? Can I just wire in the fog lights?

Also, has anyone gotten the boost gauge that comes in the S14 JDM DIN gauges to work? If so how? I know there are sensors off the Z32 to make oil pressure work but im not sure about the boost gauge.

Thanks for the help guys. I appreciate it.

Sincerely
Alex R.

You can use the oem Nissan ka-t manifold that came out of the usdm s15 if you want to stay with all original Nissan parts

No the Manifold will need to be fabricated or ill buy a cast one of ebay. I know it wont be nisan but Ill live with just the manifold.

As for the usdm s15 ka-t chassis I wont be waisitng any of my time sourcing parts on that snipe hunt.

I leave these parts for the truly knowledgable, since its obviuse to me they have the extra time to waste.

No offense but im scared to have any one local on this project. With todays economy you just dont know who is going to find out and come looking for there next victom. I appreciate the offer. Ill have to think about it. Are you friends with the local 240sx club/group?

I met with them some time ago and they seemed like most young import car lovers. Egotistical but knowledgable. However, the things that got back to me after our meeting sowered our frinedship almost immediatly.

fyi there is no such thing as a USDM S15
Nor is there such thing as a s15 KA, let alone KA-T

Ebay Cast Manifolds crack all day, you'd be better off making one with solid welds cause fixing a cast manifold is usually not worth it, especially one from ebay.

I appreciate the offer for help and no I dont think your going to steal my parts or my running and driving 98 kouki. I just know that the more people local who know the better hance you have of getting it stolen.

Ill hit you up.
Thanks

Can we just ship you to Japan in a container along with other defective parts, maybe they can fix you up or something. There are other great cars besides Japanese cars. How about a Lada? That will get a lot've attention at the track.

YES MODS PLEASE CLOSE!!!

I have to say guys for the largest 240sx and 300zx community im amazed. I asked for help on 3 simple topics and you guys managed to post quickly and your typing skills were above average.

However, not a single one of my technical questions was even anwsered let alone talked about. Way to be productive forum members. You should all be proud.

Minus the nice guy that offered his help and the one other person that actually offered his opinnion and information on a cast manifold the rest of the responses were useless.

you know what else is useless,

another thread about someones hopes and dreams that will only come to fruition with sparkling unicorn magicaly crossed fingers.

We have numerous threads like yours every week.
Its the reason no one answered any of your questions.

Get even a third of that shit started, and then get a build thread going if you want help.

Otherwise you might as well be a 16 year old talking about getting a RHD silvia from Japan,................oh wait, that was yesterday.

Ramirez Racing <<<<<<< LOOK

ITS NOT MY FIRST RODEO JUST MY FIRST TIME AT THIS RODEO.

I cant believe im taking time to explain myself on an internet forum after honestly trying to get some quick info to help me on my build while I wait for parts in the mail.

If you check my posts you will notice im buying shit all over. I just ordered the complete jdm body conversion several days ago on ebay and while I wait for that im purchasing other jdm goodies and doing a full restoration on the car before it goes under the knife for its 300zx conversion stuff which I have sitting in storage right now waiting for me to go get new pads and rotors etc etc etc.

Long story short dont quite your day job to be a criminal profiler.

Thanks anyway for your help. However you did manage to scrutinize hard enough to find my one flaw. I apologize for the manifold.

With a clean GTo, you got to be tarded wasting your time with a 240, lmao!!

Looks like you are a little new in the scene.
All that JDM stuff,....that shit went out a few years ago, and its actually looked down upon in this community. (as well as RHD)
Body parts are cool, but if it says silvia or some shit, your just gonna get laughed at by everyone but kids to young to drive.

What is the purpose of your car??
trying to keep it all nissan?? even though it wont be, and you are building a nissan engine that never existed, with non nissan parts?

Sooooo, whats the point of wasting all your time with brake upgrades from other nissans that you dont really need?
Or could go wilwood or brembo if its a show car?

I think you need to lurk around here a bit.
read, listen and watch.
and after 6 months, start to make a decision.
Because guys like you usually make the worse cars.

You jump into a scene you dont know,
buy a bunch of parts you think are cool,
put it together and mold it all,
and its hidious.

Its like when grown ups try and figure out whats cool for teens.
Its just a fucking embaressment.

You might think I am coming down on you, but this is actually a lot of good advice.

Nismo catalog, give it a few moments to load:

That's a good place to start. Good luck with whatever you're doing.

Holy shit this never ends.

Look I just want real input from knowledgable people thats why im here.

I have been lurking under my other account since 2006, which moderators are helping me with right now since im having a rights issue with that account.

Im not new in the scene Iv been in the seen since drifting was hammering the throtle and turning the wheel. Since when the GTR battle wing in aluminum or fiberglass was all you had. Since home depot was your intake store not online or autozone.

Point being look at my web site read my suspension tunning articles and turbo maping project and see if im a newbie. You guys all make judgments you dont know shit about.

My GTO is a cruiser and a drag car, it has two motors one putting down 500whp and one that puts out right at about 300.

My goal for the 240 was to have a sleek looking super car. That was several years ago. Now that im older and have the money to play with Im goign JDM. I dont care what you think about its hip retro street cred Its what I want!!! Im not building this car to please you or anyone else for that matter.

So if you guys want to help please do, if not F you and stray away from my posts you guys are like a bunch of school girls all going to the bathroom togehter. You know you say you hate the useless posts that poeple put up about there dream cars that wont ever see fruition without a unicorn and a pot of gold.

Well im tired of dealing with nobodys that wish they were a somebody. You guys try so hard to put others down when in reality you could have saved yourself time and energy by either ignoring or actually anwsering my very simple questions.

I gave the backgorund info becouse I know IM DEALING WITH IGNORANT 16 YEAR OLDS!!!

Get over yourselves I hate to tell you but being a bully from behind a keyboard is kinda like the special olumpics.... Even if you win your still a retard.

So one last time here is my project in a nut shell.

JDM exterior and interior.

USDM MOTOR for its cheap parts and local sourcability.

To bring that down to your level.
It b mad easy yo to be getting shit from parts stores local when I be braking mad parts yo!

Look botom line Get with it or get over it but please get helpfull or get out of the f#$king way.

^ you're trying too hard bro.

Your logic makes no sense. You want to spend premium pricing on JDM exterior and interior parts, but yet you want to go cheap with the USDM motor. Function > Form. If you did your research you would know that MOST of the parts for JDM engines like the SR can be found from various other Nissans found here in the states.

YAY actual input.

I know its a little wonky but bear with me here.

No replacment for displacment, RIGHT?

So why buy a motor form japan that has .4 liters less and a turbo?

A single pound of boost is a 7 percent increase accros the board. So with that said the increase on the SR20 is still 7 percent but its seven percent of a smaller number.

The KA24 is local and you can get them cheap from everyone doing swaps and you get more out of your percentages becouse N/A they produce mroe power then the N/A SR20.

Also I realy want an RB25 but cant afford one right now. I am eager to get one but with the house the kid the dog and the other 4 cars I just cant afford it. So for now Ill be happy doing the exterior and interior as well as the vlsd and brakes. With all that done I have a vey nice solid platform for daily driving that I can build on.

I have the GTO to race
The 240sx Kouki to drive daily and take to weekend events.
I have an H22 accord that im trying to finish so my girl can race it.
I have a Z32 that is going to danate parts to the 240
I have another Z32 im rebuilding a spun bearing on so I can flip it and hopefully get a TWIN TURBO Z32

I appreciate fabrication, restoration, performance, and all around quality.

My builds are very well thought out.

I used to work for one of the top tuners in Oklahoma. Trizone motorsoprts. This is where it all started. I moved down to Teaxas and for the most part have done my best to stay out of the scene for reasons that are obivuse. I build my own projects and I enjoy them.

The 240sx has been a daily driver for some time, its time I did something with it. I want as much nismo shit as I can get becouse well I love nismo. Also, I feel that when you start to mix and match manufacturers you start to loose the true heritage of the car. Yes you can get a better built car cheaper with the accumulation of appropriate parts and the right research but like I said I love restoration.

I see the car being worth alot of money in 20 years and I dont want to do anything that might sacrifice that value. I think the JDM gooodies will up its resale in 20 years.

So with all that said can anyone help me anwser my first three questions?

I want to install the JDM thermostate trim with buisness card holder but I have read that they dont work in the 98 s14 usdm chassis?

Please from now on real input please.

Whos being a bully?

LMAO!!

I just gave you REAL advice on that last post.

I even stated,

"You might think I am coming down on you, but this is actually a lot of good advice."

And great you are building your "dream car".
But I am trying to help you avoid the "RICE" pitfall you seem to be hovering over.

Although, instead of taking advice you may not want to hear, you are doing what immature people do, and getting angry and offended by it instead.

maybe you should try NICO??

Bottom line, dude, if you want to build your car, build it any way you want, just don't expect EVERYONE to like it, cause there's never been such a car.

If you want help on certain issues, try to leave your background info out, but most of all, .......

SEARCH. almost 100% of everything that's ever been done to a 240 sx has been covered in zilvia somewhere.

Good luck with the build...

Thanks for the input and yes I agree build for yourself. I never asked any of these idiots to like my project or even approve of it. I simply gave the background info becouse I knew what I was walking into. I hoped it would subside the flaming. Aparently not.

I have searched, its the information I have gathered that left me these very simple and very few questions.

I know most of the info through searching I really just need input on these very simple questions. I dont see the issue.

As a community we are supposed to support and help each other.

I spend alot of time being an active member in multiple comunities, not just cars but elsewhere also and it never fails. The import car community is always divided between ignorance and imaturity. Its rare to actually get help and not get B.S. in these forums. Why?

The import car scene is flooded with ignorant ass holes that want to voice there disgust about how much more they know or about how much better there shit is.. Guess what I dont care. If you cant positivly communicate then maybe you should work on that. Its only going to end up causing you unwanted issues in life. I really wish I could meet these guys in person I bet away from a computer and face to face they wouldnt dare act like this. Why does a computer make you an ass hole?

Sure after your first slew of absolutly useless posts where your main goal seemded to be of personal interest and there for was absolutly useless.

Learn to comunicate. Ill even make a deal with you. You learn to communicate and I might even use spell check. I believe it would be a small price to pay to never have to deal with your useless input again.

Deal?
