Lifewater's Sileighty Build Thread

Hello,

I'm originally from a local New York/NJ forum and this is the thread I posted there. I cleaned it up a bit but basically this just the condensed version of my 3 year continuing thread on my local forum documenting my progress. I hope you enjoy. I know Sileighty's arent the favorite here but I hope you can enjoy the work that went into making this car:

The goal for this car is going to be 350-400hp on a GT2871r turbo with a fully built motor at around 18-20lbs.

Here's what it looked like when I bought it back in like 2007. Came with a SOHC KA in bad shape... Clutch was shot, but rust was minimal (Lil specs on the frame rail, shock tower, and rocker arm). So I decided to wait for my SR Swap before driving it.

Fast forward to my Wings Swap and Silvia Front Car drove like a completely animal. I had no idea turbos cars were so fast. I met Dane shortly after and he brought me back down to reality, showing me I was actually running 19lbs on my stock t25 turbo, making my car feel like a Ferrari. In the end the turbo ended up blowing at Drift Nirvana. Here's some pics of the progress made during Mid 2008:

Center Console Mod (Courtesy of Duplicolor!)

Got rid of the god ugly stock tails and replaced them with legit kouki tails!

Since the turbo was fried I upgraded to a 2871r, Power FC, and 740CC Nismo Injectors. BUT Due to a busted o-ring I ended up bending rod #4 and ruining my motor. So what else is one to do? Rebuild of course :P I hope to have the motor completely rebuilt by sometime toward the end of the summer. The motor should be good enough to handle around 500hp, but I will be keeping it around 350hp (turbo limitations).

Waiting for paint and a motor:

Most of the motor is assembled at this point. All that's left is the lifters, cams and the rest of the timing chain setup.. Then all the peripherals can start going back on the motor.

We did run into an issue with the oil baffle pan. Apparently ARP main studs stick out of the girdle too far and you cant seal the pan properly cause they hit the pan. Having the choice of shaving the pan or the arp stud, the oil pan was chosen as the victim.

Here it is clearly not sealing correctly (this is with the pan bolted down)

Fabbing oil sump to allow mating with ARP main studs:

Recap of whats being done:
Full repaint, engine bay included, installation of Type-X wing/rear valances, silvia sideskirts, silvia front lip, GTR grill. Oh and I finally got brick headlights

Ground 0! Soon to be painted.

Engine bay work
