Snorlax's Build
Decided to finally make a build thread for Snorlax.
I bought the car as my first car right after high school 2010 with 98,xxx miles. Car was all stock Here is a pic from Nissan Jam 2016 Lost most of my early stages pictures of the car on my old phone Day when the SR first when in [/url] Car had gone through a lot of improvements through the years Last day Snorlax ran a track event before SR was pulled out Bought a diffuser from a friend and decided to put it on after many years of debating wether to do it or not. so the build starts here when the SR came out of the car and was on the way to my friends S14. Got an opportunity to buy my friends 98’ SE Hardtop (SR Powered, full 326 power suspension, clean interior) for a good deal so I couldn’t let it pass. So the engine going in Snorlax is going to be the LS3 ERod version. Going this route because have been ref twice going to school and didnt want to risk a third time. All times have been in the city of Irvine. Daily drove the car for school during the time I was going there and everything was a fine for like 2 years but luck changed. So first piece I bought was a brand new T56 Magnum Stripped the engine bay before taking it to the shop to paint the bay.. Sitting at the shop Started to prep the bay. I wanted to shave as much possible closed up the holes where there IC piping ran through primed the engine bay and did a removable core support and my buddy fab up a dimple plated core support upper beam keeping stock one also just in case after sanding down the primer it was time for paint black sealer down then base/clear went with a grey metallic from GM brought Snorlax back home I also undercoated all the chassis from underneath and removed both subframes to paint can't find pictures of that I guess I forgot to take some of those painted everything silver though Last edited by s1421; 02-24-2019 at 11:03 PM.. tested fitted the t56
bought a set of ctsv calipers on amazon day for a good deal so I pulled the trigger my buddy gave me a full hydro ebrake kit so thats the only reason why im running duals if not I probably wouldn't have wanted to do something to the dash support bar so I decided to paint it with just clear with a lil bit of silver flake mixed into it test fitted some saga's 18x9.5 +22 bought some z track wheels this weekend 2/23/2019 to be able to roll the car found them on offerup for $400 with tires in ok condition, might just refinish them and use them for track also all caught up to date on the build will update as much as possible with more better/detailed pictures Last edited by s1421; 02-24-2019 at 11:02 PM.. Weren't both of these S14s at Nissan Jam '16? I was there an I thought they were both my idea of 'just right'. Are you keeping them both?

Happy to see your car here finally. Both of your cars were super nice and a lot of people can learn from you. I dig the whole LS thing because we're from CA and I know how shitty it is for cars. Looking forward to seeing the car completed!

Very awesome build man, in for another LS 240. Just remember it’s your car and fuck what anyone else on here or around you thinks. After reading your note about being ref’d that’s really odd. Orange County however has a reputation to uphold. What HP numbers you aiming for with the Erod motor?

Just in case whoever doesn't know who Snorlax is haha
Got my bell housing in the other day and bolted it up to the case. Started to pull out some of my stored objects! Got a clean black dash along with a Nismo wheel and brand new front end lighting that I've been storing for a while... |

Looking killer. In the midst of LS3 swapping my s13 and was curious what length Sikky relocation shifter you decided to use as I also have the t56 magnum and the QuickTime bellhousing. They have told me via email that it's not needed and I know that's not correct

Havent had that much time to work on the car these past weeks but some progress was made!
It was time now to start fitting the engine in the car.. Installed the McLeod Mag Force, along side the Tilton TOB since the car no wheels , I found a good deal from local guy and picked up some LMGT4 With the removable core support made install of the LS a breeze! decided to send the car out to my Buddys shop to get the exhaust done first. sent the car out as of today. I will try to get pics of how the exhaust system is made when I go over to help. Last edited by s1421; 04-23-2019 at 12:09 PM.. Reason: ............ |

oh dude this is SO good!!! TE37 Saga is the best spoke design out of all the TE imo.
Cannot go wrong with LMGT4 either. |

Those massive brakes really fill up the wheels. I know the 6-piston requires at least an 18" wheel but it looks pretty unforgiving in the offset department as well. Any chance you could measure the clearance next time you have the wheels off? I would be eternally grateful.
Here is Wilwood's clearance measurements for example. Sorry for cluttering up the thread. |

Exhaust is done on the car for now. 2.5'' pipe coming out of the manifold flange to clear frame and steering column. Space is tight but not impossible.
Ended the exhaust with the Reinhard Tip Got the car back home. Going to start now on mocking things up to see where im going to want stuff to sit in the bay. I also have the stock center part of the core support, don't know if state ref will make a big deal of the dimple core support so ill maybe swap it out when I take the car in. Snorlax looks empty with no AC condesor or front mount after many years of seeing with them on. haha Last edited by s1421; 05-05-2019 at 09:03 PM.. Reason: ........... |
