Drifting is so DAMN expensive!!!
Sup guys, name is Andy Dennington, 24 years old and im from Oklahoma city, oklahoma. Been on zilvia for a few years now, so i finally decided to start a build thread. this will be pic heave, so i hope you enjoy
so here is how the car looked about 5 years ago, when i first got into drifting. still to this day, i have no idea why i thought throwing a kouki front on was a good idea and when i thought "ohhh im a drifter now, its official hahahaha" so after my first event, i was hooked and knew that this is what i want to spend every pay check on. so i started the usual drift build process. first was removing the sound deadening and stitch welding the chassis installed isis solid subframe bushings bought bc racing br coils stitch welded and around this time, i picked up a sponsorship with Enjuku Racing and could not be more thankful to have the support of such a great company! so i picked up some isis arms so now with the suspension stiffened up it was time to get back on the track then i decided to ditch the kouki front and just go back s13, where i should have stayed in the first place so by now, i have been drifting for 2 years i believe, and decided it was time for a cage. so i went with the enjuku fd cage, and had my buddy tig it in

an opportunity came up, where a guy wanted to purchase my sr and have me install it in his corolla. so i started adding up the profit from it, and decided to go ahead and do the work for him and buy a 2j
and of course had to match the cage at this time i decided to get ready to compete in the Lone star drift series in texas so i obtained a sparco seat Pbm hydro ebrake went ahead and shed some weight with a lexan rear window 1st round was in Houston texas had a blast at my first competition. qualified 13th out of 30. but i got beat out during top 16. all in all it was so much fun competing and getting some tandem time in. Then.... round 3 came, and this happened. i was doing a tandem run in practice, a 350z spun out in front of me and it happened so fast i had no time to react and hit his quarter panel. Z's are freaking tanks, barely dented his quarter panel. but there was no time to give up. got back home, and threw the car on the jack stands and got to work. after pulling the engine, i cut the frame at the strut towers and welded in 1/8" plate took the car to a frame shop and got it straightened from the tension rod brackets back. pulled the twins off to go with a driftmotion billett 6262 then started doing my tube front. this is my first time ever using a mandrel bender. i think it turned out pretty good turbo close up got the manifold ceramic coated and switched to a Tial mv-s 38mm wastegate and painted the tube front to match the cage Driftmotion oil cooler New rack and bushings cut a hole for the dmax style hood vent went ahead and upgraded to ls2 coil packs since im going with aem made the brackets and did all the wiring myself. no more ignitor went ahead and painted the intake manifold wrinkle black hood vent installed took the car to the dyno and had my buddy tune it. as of right now im still on factory injectors and pump gas. on 13 pounds the car made 347hp and 340tq and was at full boost before 4k. so i was extremely happy with the response.

rd.1 was last weekend. got a shit ton of tandem time in, and had a blast as usual. qualified 9th but then when competition came it started to rain pretty heavy. i didnt want to take a chance of getting in another wreck, especially so early in the season. so i made the decision not to compete. i will upload vid as soon as my media sponsor gets done.

Thanks guys! Next step is eliminating the factory chassis harness and making a "race" harness from scratch. Here is the one I did for a buddy of mine. This is the first one i have done an the car fired up first try
Made a sheet metal plate that goes in place of the glove box. All the wiring ran behind the dash. If anyone is interested in possibly having me make you one or any other electrical job, feel free to ask. And here is a crappy pic of it in the car along with the switch panel I made him

In case anyone is interested, I have put together a DIY chassis harness kit. It comes with pretty much everything you need to build your own harness. All the pig tails are sealed and water proof, adhesive heat shrink, de-pinnable relay connectors, 10 20 amp fuses, etc... If your interested feel free to pm me. I can also get any other electrical item as well.
The kit starts at $300 shipped anywhere in the u.s. If you want more the price will obviously go up from there.

Decided I wasn't 100% satisfied with my tube front. I was worried if I get into another accident that the radiator would just get smashed against the engine with the clearance being so tight. So I decided to change the design some. Totally happy with the way it came out this time. Plenty of clearance.
Moved the main bars back to allow me to lean the radiator forward Also changed my intercooler set up. Eliminated the couplers in between the engine and intercooler Also installed a Nrg carbon wing
