S13 S14 Rear Axle Wheel bearing, interchangable?
Im currently in the process of replacing all my rear suspension arms and spindles with ones that have polyurethane bushings pressed in. Since the suspension will be out, im thinking about replacing the rear axle bearings (220k+ miles). Are the s13 and s14 rear axle wheel bearings interchangeable? Im not talking about the hub, but the bearing/housing itself.
43210 is the rear axle wheel bearings. Also, does the hub come off the wheel bearing pretty easily? Or will I be needing a special tool to seperate the two? Or do some of you have a 'special trick' that you would like to share? What about installation, will torquing the axle nut (08911) to spec be enough to attach the hub to the wheel bearing? |

Welcome to Earth. No one has ever discussed this, ever. *sigh*
The bearing is the same from 89-98. Also the same for the 90-96 Z32 NA. Which is why you can use 5lugs from those cars on an S13. Common sense would have told you that. The hub is pressed into the bearing. A press is needed to remove/reinstall it. Again, very common, well discussed information.

is it possible to press out the hub without damaging the bearings? reason i asked is because i have 5 lug hubs, and was planning to press out the 4lug hubs and press on the 5lug hubs into those bearings.
the shop told me they cant press it out without damaging the bearings.. |

The outer race usually comes off when the hub is pressed out, use a bearing splitter to remove it then press it back on the bearing. Super easy.

We know this. No one asked about front bearings.
