Pilot bearing issues.
So I just found out ever since I put my rebuilt KA in my car about 20,000 miles ago it had a pilot bearing.
Since the rebuilt motor has been put in its been through 2 clutches, and now the transmissions done. So I went to install the pilot bearing today and it wasn't going in very easy but I got it in. I made sure the pilot bearing would slide on and off of the transmissions input shaft before I installed it. Then I went to push the clutch alignment tool in to check it out and the clutch alignment tool wouldn't go in, the pilot bearing whole was too small. I then chiseled it out into pieces and went to nissan to get a new one, and measured the diameter of the outside of the pilot bearing and its at .812. Then I went and measured the inside of where its supposed to go and its at .752. What's going on here? And what could I do? I have access to a lathe that I could trim it down some, but I'd rather know why its like this.

Its supposed to go on pretty tight. When you hammer it in, it mushrooms in a way(if you get what I'm saying) causing the alignment tool not to go in. What I did was take some sand paper and just smoothed the inside until the alignment tool fits perdectly

I've seen guys threads on here who have used the needle instead of OEM, and the input shaft just busted the needle pilot bushing up causing the shaft to rattle around.

Not true man. I pulled out the auto bushing this morning in like 5 mins, then tapped the new pilot bushing in, and the alignment tool fits just fine in there now.
