Work VS XX Wheel Offset For My 240SX
Hey guys, what should be a nice offset for my new rims? I have a choice between 35mm to a -8mm.
Right now i'm thinking of 5mm or -8mm...any suggestions? I don't know if this rims has any offset in it and I like it. PS: Image is from J Tuned, Straight Sixin' Article and this car is owned by Chad. Last edited by P4rD0nM3; 08-26-2005 at 05:25 PM.. |

uhh...what size wheels are you gonna run?
what fender mods do you have? how willing are you to make them fit? offset is not an independant figure...it's different depending on width

and that offset is NOT very high...if it's an 8 or 9 wide, it's probably like +25 or more
and it's a lame high face you better not get a fucking high face on the VS-XX's...i'll kill you

Uhm, right now I have 17x7 4x100 rims. And I'd like to use my old tires...is that advisable? I have a +20mm Front Fender and a +50mm Rear Fender from version:Select. They haven't been installed yet in my 240sx...just sitting in the garage. Waiting for comments and suggestions regarding the wheels that i'll put on (Work VS XX). I was thinking of going to 17x8 17x9 front/back respectively. But I need to buy new tires too. Which one's a better idea? Go with 17x7 and buy some wheel spacers or do those x8 x9 rims and tires and (insertCommentHere)...?
PS: My car is still stock, however the parts are here already. TEIN DRIFT Spec Coilovers and the SR are all sittin' in my garage. Thanks. |

with over fenders like that, you need to run atleast a 9/10 set up.
You do know there's a master guide for wheels thread right? |

um ok. wow.
it dosent sound like you have a clear understanding of wheel fitment at all. offset is how far the mounting point of the wheel is "offset" from the center of the wheel. if you have a 18x15 wheel with a zero offset, to have the same fitment from wheel hub to fender lip on a 18x9 wheel, you would need to run a -76 offset. offset and width are not independant, i believe somone said this above me. you have 4x114.3 wheels. if you have 4x100 wheels, somone did a volkswagen swap on your car somwhere down the road and didnt tell you about it. they dont make 4 lug 17" vs-xx in either of the offsets you listed. you can view the available sizes here. http://www.worksuperwheels.com/wheel...cation_17.html additionally, do you fully understand how much a set of thoes wheels cost in custom sizes? expect to pay above 3 grand with new tires. if i was you, and i had a stockish widebody s13, and was limited to work vs-xx wheels, and i wanted an easy, relativley mild wheel fitment (which i never do) these are the sizes i would get. front - 17x9.5 +3 or -10 rear - 17x10.5 -10 or -22 silver face if somone told me i could get a set of any size work vsxx wheels i wanted, but they have to go on an s13, i would get this front 18x9.5 -10 with a small plate spacer rear the biggest lowest they make, rear is easy. hm seems to be tossup between 18x13 and 19x12.5, kindof lame. in chrome. PLEASE dont get the stupid ass bronze face. god i hate that shit. |

These are two-three piece wheels. the lower the offset and wider the wheels, the larger the lip. the more it will stick out from the center. the face of the wheel is flat design.
With your wide fenders and coiloversetup. i would suggest going with 18x.9.5 -10 (rear); like chmercer suggested. and 18x9 +10 (front). or 17x10 +5 rear and 17x9 +10 front. this is all guessing work. best thing to do is install your wide fenders and do some math. Do you want the rims flush or the wheels flush to the fender?

Hmm ok...this is my current rims & tires...I know I know...they suck. That's why i'm going to buy new rims (And probably new tires).
# Enkei Rs5 29677001SP 17×7 4-100/114 40S (Back Up) # Hankook Ventus HR II H405 215/40R-17 VSB So, will there be a non-customized Work VS-XX Rim that will fit with my Hankook tires? I'm looking at this char right now...and i'm talking to a Work USA Wheels representative. He's having a hard time talking to me. Hehehehe. http://www.worksuperwheels.com/wheel...cation_17.html Or I am to buy a new set of tires/rims? Thanks. |

Sorry sir. I'm just trying to learn. If i'm too much of a pain in the ass for you...I can't do anything about it. I'll try to understand this terms and stuff. It's easy for you to say to jsut stay with a stock car. I'm pretty sure that almsot everyone here had no idea what they were doing the first time they had or wish to modify their cars. ^^; Sorry for being a pain!

It's almost like you're intentionally asking these dumb questions... are you that un-educated to know that each work wheel is in fact custom and come in offsets of your choice depending on what is available (this is found on their website and it looks like you know whrere that is)? I am trying to help you out and save you some time/money by telling you to keep the car stock... learn some basics first about cars in general or else you'll pay a lot of $$$ to have your car look like one of LJ Garcia's "Masterpieces".

I'm not following a trend. I'm trying to learn. And I really am. I'm trying to read lot's of stuff about this car. I only had this car for less than 6 months. So...i'm just starting out. If it's lame to have all those parts sitting in my garage, then let it be. But I don't think learning and asking questions (Even if it's dumb for you guys) isn't lame. You guys probably know a lot already. I just started gettin' into cars about a year ago. And i'm not even familiar with the terms yet...most of the terms. So this is my first car to modify. And i'm learning from my mistakes. I've made a lot of mistakes already...cost me a lot too. I know that I still need to learn a lot of stuff about this car, that's why I joined Zilvia.Net, to learn and read stuff. I'm actually bookmarking tutorials and threads here in Zilvia. I maybe the dumbest 240sx owner...give me another year or so and i'll probably learn. Anyways, thansk to all the people who replied regarding my question. Even those that I feel are offensive to me.
