R200 diff question
ive been reading up on diffs that can swap into my s13 240 and was wondering if any R200 diff can be swapped into my car. i know that many different nissans have this R200 diff, are they all the same?

some of their housings are different, and some of their carriers are different not allowing for output shafts that will be compatible with the s chassis to work.
But anyways, you currently have an r200 in your 240 as that is what they come with. |

but its an open diff
from what ive heard you can get the diffs from turbod 300zx's and all you have to do is change the back plate and they bolt up.....has anyone done this? also i know the ratios are different, an?d that this will make the speedo less accurate but is there any way to remedy that? |

different lsds come with different output shafts, if your axles are 5 bolt then you need 5 bolt axles, if your 3x2 (6bolt) than thats what you need.
vlsd's are a waste of time honestly. You could just order a real lsd that will fit your diff, you wont change your gearing, and it will either come with new output shafts that will work with your axles or it will fit your current ones. |

I wouldnt weld the diff on a daily. Many people do but there is no way in hell I would. Hell, I wouldnt even daily a s13 anymore lol. My truck is so much more comfertable.
A welded diff is good for drag racing and drifting and nothing else. |

I am looking for a diff to put into my s13 also. I have the RV200 I think it is. I can't remember but it's the R200 with the VSLD. I hate the Vsld and want to get rid of it. I have the 4.08 ratio(or the one close to it) and was looking to get the 4.36 ratio.
Basically which diff will fit right into the s13 that has 4.36 ratio and open carrier? I could just buy the gears but at the price of them+the time to install them it's more then just picking up a used diff. Sorry to thread jack some, but it might help you out some also.
