Installed. Overall impressions.
I love the quality of the kit and all the parts. The core is seriously bad ass, thick and quality. The piping fits perfect and the couplers and tbolts all are top notch. The kit install was a lot more difficult than I anticipated by reading online. Yes the headlight motors had to be removed and the headlight buckets needed to be modified to fit around the core. The headlight brackets had to also be trimmed slightly as well as the radiator support. Also at least on mine, the side brackets didn't fit at all so we just cut them off. Here are some pics of it installed. I have yet to finish the new headlight brackets, but they are super sick and ready to go in. |

Lookin good pimp flex, keep us updated on your headlights, turbo response and water temps.
JDM Silvia 13, 14, 15 headlights are not a problem since they dont interfere with the core.

Headlight brackets installed. Super baller brackets work great. These are completely bolt on. No drilling required at all, just the modification to the headlight buckets to remove the motors and make them clear the core.

Fits perfect with my optima redtop, just have to remove the windshield washer bottle neck, I got rid of all that a long time ago anyways.
DJpimp, I see you did go with my sliding setup. I've found myself just leaving them up all the time now, but it's good to know I can put them down if I want. Anyone else who wants to see a pretty detailed write up, there's one in one of the other HMIC threads on here. I posted it a while back when I got my kit. So far I have nothing but good to report. |

^^ Hella stole your idea. Works great. My car's track only so I keep em down, but at events like ASB where there is night drifting I need to have em up so it works perfect.

Yea huge. I could only do about a lap before I would have no power steering. Now I have no problems. S13's don't like 10" wide wheels in the front.

^^ Yup
Just did my first full track with the new set up. Response = amazing. Probably 2-3x better than my old greddy fmic kit. I ran without a front bumper but on my next one I plan on making a vent as to allow air to flow more directly into the intercooler. The bumper completely covering the core made me nervous. Running without a front bumper + the intercooler kit made for some crazy low coolant temps. I ran about 15° C (59 F) cooler than I did with the fmic. At first I thought something was wrong with my gauge, but it was just THAT cold. Very impressed overall. The kit isn't for the feint of heart when it comes to the details but neither is drifting so I guess it all works out. |

I had to do way more cutting than expected but I think it turned out ok considering i did this after work with help from a friend in just over 2 hours.
Response is awesome and my fans no longer turn on when on the highway. had to cut my headlight brackets which i was unaware of and also the headlight housing. A local shop said they could make something similar for me (if i supply an intercooler) for ~$500. So I ordered this a few days later and i couldn't be happier. This kit is awesome, even though im not a fan of not running a bov I'm working on a recirculating setup. |

^^^ So you didn't trim the upper part of the radiator support and didn't use the top bolts? I did the opposite and didn't use the side bolts and just used the top ones.

correct. I only used the side bolts. After bolting it up it look to be sturdy enough and i didn't justify spending any more time on it or cutting holes that might not line up. my biggest concern was i didn't want to hack away a lot of the core support leaving a lot of the harness exposed. o dod cut some of it but it was very little. All that I saw was really needed was cutting the rounded end off the core support. I had to mount it several times and cut off little by little but it worked and my harness isn't all out in the open so I'm happy with it. CFRC this weekend! I've already done a little bit of spirited driving around town and I'm still having a hard time believing how awesome this kit is. |
