Autovlog/car repair channel on youtube?
Hi people of Zilvia,
I've been spending a lot of time on the interwebz now that I am unemployed and going back to school in September. School being relatively cheap here (500$ for 1800 hours) in Canada, I figured I could spend some money. I'm studying to become an auto technician and as a ''mid-term'' project, I had planned on buying a broken down s13 and build it from the ground up. But what fun would that be if I can't share with fellow enthusiasts the ups and downs of rebuilding a vehicle? Now, I have read through the many build threads and it seems like you guys really enjoy the visual part of it (pictures and lots of them). So I can to the conclusion that a VLOG ( Video-log or blog) could potentially be popular with the gen pop. I introduced the project, here comes the meat around the bone. What would you think of a vlog channel on youtube, mostly videos on car repairs and modifications on my car from the body work to the engine and everything that comes with it. Of course only videos of a guy doing repairs isn't THAT much fun so I was thinking of adding the vlog aspect to it. If some of you are familiar with the motovloggers community out there, you know what I'm talking about. They have an helmet cam and ride around wherever they're from and take us along for the ride while discussing 101 subjects. So I'd put some gopros in and around the car and film myself riding around and discussing things with you, taking you to places that I like around where I'm from. Road trips (maybe I'd fly somewhere to buy the car and drive back filming and everything!) These videos would be once every one or two weeks and about 15-20 minutes long. Does that sound like something you would watch? If not, what would you like to see? PLEASE if you have any suggestions as of the editing and ideas on the filming, repairs and mods, topics discussed, where, what and why just brainstorm my f*ckin face. Thanks a lot for taking the time to read, I really appreciate it! |

What do you personally like about MightyCarMods' videos? Just to give me a better idea of what to go for..
MightyCarMods were amongst my inspiration for this project but there were also ErictheCarGuy, BakerxDerek, BaronVonGrumble, Chaseontwowheels, yourpalschrisandal, thevegasbiker ( the last 5 are motovloggers ). Here are some examples http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLVu2...ature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZaUg...ature=youtu.be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY0mJ...ature=youtu.be |

I think 15-20 minutes is longer than most people are willing to devote to an amateur vlog unless it's really damn compelling. I'd probably shoot for more like 10 minutes starting out.

I think 10 minutes is good to start with, you're right. If I'm to make longer videos I'll probably speak about repairs and/or stuff everybody can relate to that's not just my vlogging. Thanks again! |

would you rather have repair videos of regular stuff like i don't know, changing brakes, fluids and such or more videos about mods : how to redo a sr20 head, install a bodykit and whatnot?
