guess it's hard to see how bad it fits and how wavy it is if it never gets painted

I dont get how somebody can look at the countless examples of a finished car with KBD and say to themselves "I want to put that on my car"
I dont think I can recall a single car that KBD doesnt look fucking goofy on. Even off the car that shit hardly looks anything like what it's supposed to be replicating I bought a KBD bumper for a friend I owed some money to in 2018 and I'm not kidding you the fitment of the bumper changed daily depending on if he parked the car inside or outside in the sun. cool wheels on that last car tho |

make sure you tell the shop to use an adhesion promoter in the primer and flex additive in BOTH the primer AND paint, otherwise, kiss the paint good bye the first time that bumper flexes!

I was actually in the first group buy for the KBD BN kit a couple years ago, so I had no reference as to how it would look properly mounted and painted, but the flexible and lifetime warranty aspects are what got me, along with the price tag of $542 shipped. Time went by and I ended up getting rid of it because I got caught up with another kit and thennnn I eventually got around to getting this kit again recently for this second S13 I picked up last year. Joey from RUN UP! has been running a KBD kit and his seems to look fine as far as fitment, paint staying on, and paint not being wavy, which adds to my list of reasons to not discredit it right away: Also, as dorki mentions, prep is key, and it seems like a bunch of these dudes who run KBD don't know to properly prep flexible body parts. I'm pulling the trigger on painting myself so we'll see how it turns out with me doing the job rather than a paint shop...another important thing a lot of people don't seem to realize is that using - at the very least - OEM mounting brackets on these kits will help them fit like...guess what...OEM lol. But people just resort to zip ties which doesn't really work nicely for big super flexible parts like KBD. On the contrary...I also got word Kyle from Pro Shop Noble has dealt with one or more cars running KBD. Supposedly when he removed the front bumper, the entire "shell" of paint just came off from flexing LOL. Then again, I don't think he was the one who prepped and painted the kit that was on that specific vehicle he dealt with; I think he was only doing mounting or some other shit on the car. If that's the case, poor prep must've been done? Who knows. Thanks Max! Will you be going to Final Bout SSW? |

Shit is so good.
Ended up painting the hatch myself in the garage lol. Surprisingly the paint's sticking to the polyurethane kit, even with flexing. Still have a bunch of fine tuning to do as far as paint smoothness and body panel fitment but it's progressing. |

Finally got to see my boys hatch after its new paintjob, can't believe he's had this car for 10 years I think? Wonder how my og coupe would have been if I kept it.
Anyways, sexy style... |
